Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 10 million patients and
now operates in 13 African countries. In 2020, we developed 67
humanitarian medical response projects to address the needs of populations affected by conflict,
epidemics, and extreme poverty. All of these projects support
national health authorities through 357 health facilities (including 45 hospitals and 312 health centers).
We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure our patients benefit from expertise wherever it is available, whether in
their own country or elsewhere in the world. Furthermore, to enhance the humanitarian response,
we conduct operational and clinical research projects, notably in the
fight against malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers. ALIMA also carries out operations
in response to the COVID-19 pandemic across all of our missions.
OUR PROJECT THEMES
: Malnutrition, Sexual and Reproductive Health including Gender-Based Violence , Primary and Secondary Healthcare, Surgery, Pediatric Care,
Deadly Diseases such as Malaria, Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), Diarrhea, Epidemics (Hemorrhagic Fevers, Meningitis, Cholera, Measles
, Dengue Fever, Covid-19).
OUR COUNTRIES OF INTERVENTION : Mali, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Nigeria, Ethiopia,
Niger, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Haiti, South Sudan, Mauritania, and
Sudan.

JOB LOCATION: Field position (various ALIMA missions as needed)
PROTECTION OF BENEFICIARIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS
Level 3: As part of their duties, the incumbent will be required to visit
programs and be in contact with vulnerable children and/or adults. Therefore, a
criminal record check or a certificate of good conduct will be
required. In situations where it is impossible to provide a criminal record check or a certificate of
good conduct, a sworn statement will be requested.
FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS
➔ The mobile pediatrician is part of the medical support team for operations and is therefore under the
direct responsibility of the headquarters pediatric coordinator (or the head of the medical department, in their
absence).
➔ They work primarily with the project’s lead physicians who have a
pediatric/neonatal hospital activity. They ensure that missions are debriefed with the desks, as well as
the medical service. The field coordinator ensures good collaboration with all other departments to
have the necessary support to successfully carry out their mission: medical and research, support (supply
and logistics), and donor relations, as well as with the HR, finance, and IT departments;
➔ During field support visits, established by/with the desks, they work closely
with the country and project coordination teams.
MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES
➔ Direct support to the lead physicians of field projects and to the medical coordination teams.
Each support visit must be prepared in advance with the full involvement of the desk
and the relevant country coordination team (particularly the medical coordination team).
➔ Support to the desks

➔ Participation in strategic discussions for Alima missions: the pediatrician coordinator is part of
the country and operational medical coordination teams and actively participates in discussions within
these teams.
➔ Drafting of clinical care protocols.
– MAIN ACTIVITIES:
● Improving the Quality of Care in pediatric-neonatology activities:
within the Desk 1 missions
● Submitting written recommendations (procedures, diagnostic tools, best
practices, monitoring tools, etc.) on specific topics identified to the
Desk 1 physician and the medical department.
● In collaboration with the technical advisor, developing
training modules and facilitating their implementation in projects in
consultation with the Desk 1 physician.

– At the Medical Coordination and Field Level:
o Document the teams’ care practices through a review of
existing care protocols for medical resuscitation (assessment of needs and
available resources)
. o Based on the assessment, promote a culture of quality improvement through
awareness campaigns and professional training, and propose a
plan to improve care (in terms of protocols, training, and equipment
in the units).
o Ensure improved investigations and treatments related to
the patient’s condition by supporting physicians in the critical review of
clinical cases and mortality reviews.
o Provide training to teams on the different stages of clinical examination in
pediatrics, on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (cardiac massage, ventilations)
in pediatrics and neonatology, on the management of neonatal infections,
and on the management of prematurity.
• Ensures that the referring healthcare facilities for pediatrics and neonatology
understand the criteria for referring cases requiring hospitalization
.
• Participates in meetings with all physicians in the department,
nurses, midwives, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Kangaroo Care Method: Assessing needs in our care units and whether
recommendations are being properly implemented. (also included above among other
existing protocols)
• Ensures mastery of protocols for managing
hypovolemic shock, septic shock, and adherence to transfusion procedures.

CONDITIONS
Duration and type of contract: Fixed-term contract under French law for 12 months, renewable.

Salary: According to ALIMA salary scale + recognition of experience + per diem
ALIMA covers:
● Travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of origin and the mission location
● Accommodation expenses
● Medical coverage from the first day of the contract until one month after the departure date from the
mission country for the employee and their dependents
● Evacuation for the employee and their dependents
