SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflict and natural disasters by addressing their vital needs: water, food, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death worldwide, SI implements its interventions with expertise in the areas of access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, as well as in the essential areas of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams—a total of 3,200 people including expatriates, national staff, headquarters staff, and a few volunteers—operate with professionalism and dedication, respecting local cultures.

Context

Founded in 1980, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is a non-governmental organization engaged in the field of conflicts and natural disasters.

The association’s mission is to provide the fastest and most effective assistance to people whose lives are threatened, by covering their vital needs:
• Drinking
• Food
• Shelter

After responding to the emergency, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL teams support the most vulnerable families and communities until they regain the means of their subsistence and autonomy to face, with dignity, the challenges of an uncertain future.

Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death worldwide, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL intervenes in France and internationally by developing expertise in the field of access to drinking water and sanitation, but also in the essential fields of food security and reconstruction.

Its work is organized around four areas of expertise:
• Access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene
• Food security and livelihoods
• Assistance with housing reconstruction
• Emergency response

The SOLIS bot is an application developed by SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL that allows us to share and collect information directly from the field. Used by several country offices (Lebanon, Haiti, Ukraine) and partners to improve communication with affected populations, it enables better operational monitoring of our projects. We need support in this institutionalization process: under the supervision of the SOLIS bot Project Manager and in collaboration with the MEAL and PROGRAM teams, the intern will participate in the development, documentation,
and operational deployment of the bot for the benefit of SI and other humanitarian actors.

Job description

General mission

Participate in the structuring, documentation, and deployment of the SOLIS bot, supporting country offices, users, and the project team. The internship includes an operational component (user support and KPI monitoring) and a communication component (onboarding, demos, tutorials, and documentation).

Main tasks
• Mission & partner support: The SOLIS bot is used in Lebanon, Ukraine, Haiti, in 5 partner NGOs, and very soon in 4 new country offices.
We need your help to:
o Design onboarding materials and support teams in opening
new SOLIS bot lines: demonstrations, initial configuration, training of
first users.
o Be the operational point of contact for frequently asked questions, escalate to
technical experts when necessary, and follow up on their resolution.
o Prepare, lead, or participate in monthly demos (1.5 hours) for the
SERA and PROGRAMME teams .
o Produce or coordinate the distribution of video tutorials.
• Setting up a Wiki for the SOLIS bot: we need a more
comprehensive platform to present the tool and guide users in its use.
We need your help to:
• Write a user guide for the SOLIS bot, an onboarding narrative for
field teams, and set up a content library.
• Format this in a dedicated Wiki
. • Ensure the project’s documentation is documented, content is produced, and
deliverables are distributed to the IT teams.
• Project Support & Knowledge Management: Measuring the impact of the SOLIS bot on our programs, while ensuring its long-term viability, are key elements for the project’s future.
We need your help to:
• Update the project’s impact indicators: collect and synthesize data from
our country offices and partners.
• Participate in technology monitoring (chatbots, AI, early warning systems) and draft
a summary report for the IT teams.
• Contribute to fundraising and the production of
internal communication materials.

The tasks to be performed are cross-functional, therefore requiring autonomy, versatility and availability. Knowledge of, or at least a desire to understand, the humanitarian sector and its constraints is essential.

SI is committed to offering the intern a variety of tasks as well as in-house pre-departure training, allowing them to effectively enhance their skills and experience for future humanitarian work. This internship provides an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the workings of a humanitarian NGO, its constraints, and the different approaches that guide its actions.
