Context & Mission

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international non-profit humanitarian organization that provides medical assistance to populations facing crises that threaten their survival, primarily in cases of armed conflict, epidemics and pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from health care.

Founded in 1971 in Paris by a group of journalists and doctors, MSF is today a global movement of more than 69,000 people, including field staff and headquarters staff. Guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence, and neutrality, MSF is 98% funded by private donations.

MSF Switzerland was established in 1981 and has its headquarters in Geneva and a branch in Zurich.

The Regular Donor Acquisition unit is one of the business units of the Communications and Fundraising Department, and its mission is to recruit automatic and long-term regular donors through face-to-face interactions.

The Face-to-Face (F2F) Fundraiser is a member of the Regular Donor Acquisition unit, and reports to the Face-to-Face (F2F) Coordinator for French-speaking Switzerland and the Face-to-Face (F2F) Team Leader for French-speaking Switzerland.

Main responsibilities

As part of face-to-face fundraising campaigns in French-speaking Switzerland, the Face-to-Face (F2F) Fundraiser will be responsible for interacting with the general public, raising awareness of the challenges of emergency medical aid, and recruiting regular donors by direct debit to finance Doctors Without Borders programs around the world.

The campaigns take place in a variety of locations such as shopping centers, streets and public areas, medical facilities, private homes, train stations, post offices, festivals and special events, or any other location partner.

Logistics of face-to-face acquisition campaigns

  • Ensure the preparation, transport, assembly and dismantling of equipment: information stands, advertising banners, mobile exhibitions, or any equipment necessary for the smooth running of campaigns
  • Ensure proper use of equipment
  • Keep the stand clean and tidy
  • Use the F2F tools provided and according to the guidelines

Acquisition of new regular donors through face-to-face interaction

  • Present Doctors Without Borders Switzerland at designated collection points in French-speaking Switzerland
  • Approaching passers-by and/or customers and/or individuals to raise awareness about MSF projects
  • Convincing people to subscribe to a regular donation by direct debit to MSF
  • Complete the support forms (digital or paper version) with interested individuals in a high-quality, independent, and professional manner.
  • Apply MSF quality standards in their entirety, such as:
    • High-quality, respectful, and transparent speech
    • Professional appearance, MSF uniform and identification badge
    • Compliance with applicable data protection standards

Reporting and quality

  • Ensure the quality of the data collected
  • Report the results to the F2F Romandie Team Leader and F2F Romandie Coordinator according to the requested frequency.
  • Report on the quality of the locations according to established criteria
  • Implement the F2F fundraising techniques passed on by the F2F Team Leader
  • Romandie and/or the F2F Romandie Coordinator
  • Provide occasional support on a fundraising matter and in the required area of ​​expertise to the field HR policy and administration contact person (situation assessment, focus groups)

Other

  • Stay informed about Doctors Without Borders’ programs and news
  • Organize information briefings for the rest of the team
  • Participate regularly in MSF training and information sessions
  • Any other tasks requested in connection with face-to-face acquisition campaigns

Desired profile

Experience

  • Experience as a Face-to-Face Fundraiser (or equivalent donor recruiter, outreach worker, canvasser, fundraiser) is an asset
  • Experience in sales or customer service, or any other communication-related profession, is an asset.

Working conditions

  • Part-time position, 80% (32 hours/week, Wednesday to Saturday)
  • Fixed-term contract
  • Workplace: Geneva
  • Ideal start date: January 7, 2026
  • Gross monthly salary (at 80%): from CHF 4,445.60.- to CHF 5,612.80.- (salary based on equivalent experience and internal salary scale).
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, pro rata temporis, plus Swiss public holidays falling during the term of the contract.
  • Pension fund: contribution to the pension fund (2nd pillar-LPP) covered at a rate of 3/4 by MSF and 1/4 by the employee.
