MEET OUR ORGANIZATION
Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is an international non-profit, apolitical, and non-religious NGO. Our teams are committed to supporting civilians who are victims of marginalization and exclusion, or affected by natural disasters, wars, and economic collapse, by responding to their fundamental needs. Our goal is to provide emergency aid to uprooted people to help them regain their dignity and self-sufficiency. The association manages an average of 200 projects per year in the following areas of intervention: health, food security, health, infrastructure construction and rehabilitation, water, sanitation, hygiene, and economic recovery.
MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE POSITION GUARANTEE AND CARRY OUT PRIMARY HEALTH CARE SERVICES AT HEALTH POINTS
– Work in close cooperation with health personnel in all health activities and services to ensure their quality – Guarantee and carry out medical consultations, properly recording information in the medical record and performing complete physical examinations
– Perform diagnosis and treatment according to PIUI standardized procedures, Colombian protocols, universal hygiene and patient safety precautions, and universal ethical standards
– Provide the patient and/or their caregivers with information related to diagnosis and treatment, dates of subsequent visits, required dosage, potential side effects of drugs, prevention and warning signs for reconsultation.
– Implement the Integrated Care for Prevalent Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) strategy for consultations with children under 5 years of age.
– Apply national and international sexual and reproductive health protocols in line with PUI guidelines and recommendations
– Implement national and international protocols for the integrated management of malnutrition in children aged 0 to 59 months, in line with the guidelines and recommendations of the PUI.
CONTRIBUTE TO THE REALIZATION OF INVENTORIES, CONSUMPTIONS AND GENERAL MANAGEMENT OF THE PHARMACY In collaboration with the Pharmacy Regency and the Medical Activities Management:
– Fill out medical prescriptions correctly and legibly.
– Deliver to the patient, their family members or guardians, the prescribed medications, when required
– Ensure that medical prescriptions bear your signature, and that of the recipient of the medications, when you deliver them.
– Participate in the preparation of the necessary equipment for daily consultations
– Contribute to monitoring supplies: daily and monthly consumption and periodic inventory of necessary medications and medical supplies
CONTRIBUTE TO THE PREPARATION OF ACTIVITY REPORTS
– In accordance with the provisions of the Medical Management and Coordination, complete or contribute to the completion of periodic reports (daily, weekly or monthly) of their activities
– Correctly complete medical records, ensuring data quality
– Collaborate in the completion of internal situation reports, periodic reports to donors, and reports to epidemiological surveillance agencies, as required by Management.
SUPPORT THE MEDICAL TEAM LEADER IN ORGANIZING THE HEALTH TEAM
– Contribute to the planning of the activities of the entire health team
– Contribute to the motivation and good working environment of the health team and other PUI teams and organizations present in the field
– Monitor and collaborate with all staff in carrying out the activities implemented in a scientific and correct manner
ESTABLISHMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF AN EFFICIENT REFERRAL SYSTEM
– Support the organization of the internal and external patient referral process, working with the available team, which may include Social Work, Protection, and Nursing Professionals and Technicians. – Decide on the transfer of patients to the referral hospital, in collaboration with their direct supervisor and the field team.
MEDICAL DATA COLLECTION, MONITORING, ANALYSIS AND REPORTING
– Understand and use PUI systems for collecting, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting medical data, being aware of changes and updates when relevant.
– Monitor medical activities and analyze them in their context, with a public health approach
– Immediately report any problems that arise during the service, especially loss/theft/damage to medical equipment or supplies.
– Be aware of safety regulations and the social and political situation in the area where you work at all times, and provide feedback to your direct supervisor.
