Context & mission
Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).
In this role, you ensure the collection, analysis, organisation and dissemination of reliable and relevant information on geopolitical, security and humanitarian contexts, in order to support decision-making, risk anticipation, understanding of operational environments and the capitalisation of the organisation’s knowledge.
You’ll manage defined operational activities with accuracy, judgment, and accountability. You ensure that processes run smoothly, data and documentation are reliable, and compliance standards are met. You also identify opportunities to streamline or improve day-to-day operations within your area of responsibility.
- Execute operational tasks such as reporting, data processing, financial or HR administration, logistics, or coordination activities.
- Apply established policies, procedures, and standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Resolve routine issues independently and escalate exceptions or risks appropriately.
- Contribute to process improvements by sharing practical insights and suggesting solutions based on frontline experience.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- To research, select and produce reliable information, and promote its dissemination in order to contribute to knowledge-sharing within the organisation.
- To maintain a systematic monitoring of geopolitical situations, as well as security and humanitarian issues affecting missions and head office.
- To manage and expand physical and digital document collections.
- Implement filing and search tools to facilitate access to documentary resources.
- Ensure the quality, reliability, traceability and up-to-date nature of the sources used.
- Adapt dissemination formats to the various target audiences.
Your profile
Education
- Tertiary degree or equivalent in Information Science, Political Science or International Relations
- A dual qualification in library and information science and geopolitics is a major asset
Experience
- Experience in documentation
- Experience in geopolitical intelligence gathering
- Experience in managing a physical and digital library
- Experience in the humanitarian sector would be an advantage
Languages
- English and French are the working languages of MSF Switzerland. They are essential.
- All other languages welcome
Skills/ Technical competencies
- Proficiency in information monitoring methods
- Strong writing skills
- Excellent advanced research skills
- A keen interest in geopolitical issues
- Knowledge of standard office and collaboration tools (Microsoft 365)
- Knowledge of PMB is an advantage.
Personal Abilities/Qualities
- Analytical, organisational and structuring skills
- An analytical mind and intellectual curiosity
- Teaching skills, a service-oriented approach and the ability to work across departments

Terms of employment
- Part-time position 50% (20h/week)
- Fixed-term contract : 18 months
- Working place: Geneva, CH
- Ideal start date: As soon as possible
- Gross annual salary (for 50%): from CHF 40’428.- to CHF 48’612.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
- Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
- Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member.
- Relocation support available for eligible candidates.
