DEPARTMENT PURPOSE
Achieving systemic change and impact using Oxfam’s presence at every level from local, to regional, to global, aligned with the vision of the global strategic framework: influencing and engaging audiences around the world– through action and by generating financial support – to fight inequality to end poverty and injustice.
TEAM PURPOSE
Lead the co-creation, organization and delivery of confederation-wide communications and digital engagement strategies and approaches that drive digital transformation, inspire and engage audiences for systemic change, and that support Oxfam’s campaigns, humanitarian responses, and program work and that build and protect the brand.
JOB PURPOSE
To provide strategic leadership and direction for communications, digital engagement, and brand management by co-creating and delivering a unifying vision and plan in collaboration with the Influencing & Engagement Hub, the other Hubs and the wider communications network across countries, clusters, regions, and affiliates. The role also supports the development and implementation of the Hub’s global vision, strategy, and operational plans to ensure impactful and cohesive influencing and engagement efforts across the confederation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Technical, Leadership, People and Resource management)
1. Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Lead Global Communications Strategy: Guide the co-creation and delivery of Oxfam’s vision and strategic planning for external communications, digital engagement, and brand management.
- Set Direction for Global Networks: Provide vision and direction for both the communications and digital engagement networks, fostering collaboration and high-impact delivery across the confederation.
- Support Organizational Prioritization: Lead the Influencing & Engagement Hub’s public priority calendar and coordinate cross-Hub efforts to align public-facing work.
2. Brand and Reputation Management
- Ensure Brand Consistency and Integrity: Act as brand guardian, overseeing global brand strategy, ensuring consistent use, and managing brand-related risks and reputation across the confederation.
- Advisory Role on Reputation: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership (e.g., Hub Director, OI Leadership Collective, Executive Directors) on communications and reputational issues.
- Support New and Priority Entities: Accompany new or transitioning countries, affiliates, and regions in developing their brand and communications strategies.
3. Digital Engagement and Innovation
- Lead Digital Transformation: Oversee the development and integration of a global digital engagement strategy that strengthens public support, campaign reach, and brand engagement.
- Drive Digital Innovation and ROI: Initiate and manage digital innovation projects, monitor return on investment (ROI), and report impact in alignment with Oxfam’s KPIs.
- Build Digital Capabilities and Ecosystem: Expand Oxfam’s internal and external digital ecosystem, attract and retain digital talent, and work to grow digital competencies across the organization.
- Feminist and Inclusive Digital Principles: Ensure digital strategy and engagement networks reflect Oxfam’s feminist principles and inclusive, rights-based approaches.
4. Team and Resource Management
- Lead. Motivate and Inspire the Brand, Communications and Digital Team: Lead the Brand, Communications and Digital team, supporting performance, wellbeing, professional development, and alignment with feminist and anti-racist leadership principles.
- Manage Resources and Budget: Oversee team budgets and ensure clear objectives, efficient planning, and impact measurement aligned with broader departmental goals.
- Foster Positive Culture: Cultivate an inclusive, transparent, and non-hierarchical team environment that supports personal growth and organizational values.
