Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: mainly in cases of armed conflict, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from care.
Médecins Sans Frontières France is recruiting a: Head of the Donations division within its private fundraising department, as part of a permanent replacement.
MSF
is implementing an ambitious plan to develop its financial resources to enable the delivery of its field programs. Gifts (bequests, donations, and life insurance policies) are a strategic fundraising channel due to their strong growth potential.
In this context, you will play a strategic role: driving long-term growth in revenue from bequests, donations, and life insurance policies. You will oversee all the activities of the department, in particular promoting these essential forms of support, building loyalty, and establishing privileged relationships with those considering transferring all or part of their assets.
The bequests department currently consists of 3 people: a marketing and testator relations officer, an intern and the department head.
Main activities:
Strategy, action plans and budgets (15%)
- To propose and manage the ambitious multi-year strategy for developing resources from donations;
- Develop annual action plans and corresponding budgets, for prospecting and customer retention, monitor their progress and report on them;
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders for business development, particularly networks of prescribers.
Relations testateurs (30%)
You oversee the relationship with the testers and the support we offer them in the progress of their projects. Specifically, you will:
- Distribute the contacts among the team members’ portfolios and advise them on the relationship-building actions to implement;
- Define and implement an individual relationship plan for the contacts in your portfolio;
- Supervise responses to information requests and appointments with testators;
- You are responsible for the quality of the relationship with the testators and in particular the accuracy and timeliness of the responses provided by the team, compliance with the ethical framework and the counterparties defined by MSF;
- Support the members of the Philanthropy division (major donors) in understanding the challenges of succession, in answering questions from their contacts, and in promoting charitable giving to their audiences, etc.
Cycles marketing (20%)
You will be in charge of the promotional, recruitment, and retention plan, and in particular you will:
- Oversee multi-channel marketing campaigns (print, TV, mailings/emailings, digital, telemarketing, etc.)
- Propose innovative tests and actions, and make adjustments based on the results.
Management of the division (15%)
- You manage the team: supervision, skills development, particularly on legal and tax matters, etc.;
- You develop and disseminate a strong culture of innovation and development;
- You are responsible for ensuring proper coordination of work with service providers and internal teams, with whom you work closely (the legal legacy department, the fundraising and communications departments, other MSF offices, etc.).
Activity monitoring and tools (20%)
- You produce a detailed annual report of the activity and associated recommendations;
- You define and ensure the proper implementation of procedures across all activities of the division;
- You define the indicators, produce and analyze activity monitoring reports, and develop a data culture within the department;
- You initiate and coordinate the development projects for new features on the CRM tool and are responsible for the completeness and quality of the data entered within your scope.
Desired profile:
Experience:
- You have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, as a Testator Relations Manager, Bequests Manager, Fundraising Marketing Manager, or in managing a portfolio of testators, donors or individual clients.
- You have experience in management.
Aptitudes :
- You have a good grasp of the legal and tax concepts related to the transfer of assets and the marketing concepts and techniques in fundraising;
- With a strong interest in development and excellent interpersonal skills and listening abilities, you know how to manage and develop a portfolio of contacts;
- Ability to unite, work across departments and in project mode and thrive in a complex environment;
- You have a category B driving licence;
- Knowledge of the non-profit and charitable sector is an asset.
Languages : Fluent French and English (C1).
Employment conditions
Status: Permanent full-time contract. Management position, based in Paris with travel within France required for meetings with testators.
Compensation and benefits:
- €50,800 gross annual salary over 13 months
- 22 days of RTT (reduced working time) per year
- Working remotely according to MSF’s rules (2 days/week).

- Meal vouchers worth €12 (60% covered by MSF)
- 50% reimbursement of public transport pass (weekly, monthly or annual) OR bicycle mileage allowance (€0.25 per km, limited to €450 per year)
