Mission

The position aims to open the Doctors of the World mission in Cuba following the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa on the island.

Areas affected on the Island of Cuba by Hurricane Melissa.

Organization chart

Hierarchical dependence of the emergency coordinator with technical support from the headquarters representatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop, with the support of the emergency coordinator, relationships with authorities and key health stakeholders in Cuba.

• Collect and analyze information on the health system in Cuba/target areas, including the availability of human resources.

• Collect and analyze information on the modalities of health partners’ programs.

• Assess the availability and capacity of local health partners in the assessed areas.

• Review and consolidate epidemiological data on the current health situation in the evaluated areas, providing an analysis of morbidity and mortality disaggregated by age and gender where possible.

• Contribute to the design of a logic for the intervention of Doctors of the World in Cuba.

• Contribute to the implementation of the logical framework based on the needs identified during the assessment.

• Contribute to the search for institutional donors by providing technical support in the formulation of proposals.

• Recruit, if necessary, the healthcare personnel required for the successful implementation of the project.

• Gather information on relevant supply chains.

• With the support of the mental health specialist, gather information about mental health support.

Training

Academic Qualification:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in medicine or diploma in nursing.

Additional Training:

Project cycle management (logical framework, results-oriented management, rights-based approach), management of health programs and projects, community health, awareness-raising, public health, interculturality and gender.

Minimum requirements

Requirements

Languages: At least C1 level of Spanish is required.

Desirable: English

Computer skills: User level of the Office suite.

Experience

Essential field experience in international cooperation in the aforementioned functions.

Desirable experience in emergencies and project opening.

Remuneration/Conditions

Salary tables for Doctors of the World. Permanent contract.

Working hours: 40 hours.
