Plan International is an independent humanitarian and development organization that promotes children’s rights and girls’ equality.
We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often stifled by poverty, violence, exclusion, and discrimination. And girls are the most affected.
Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we fight for a just world, addressing the root causes of the challenges faced by girls and all vulnerable children.
We support children’s rights from birth to adulthood. We empower children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive change in practice and policy at the local, national, and global levels, leveraging our reach, experience, and expertise.
We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years and are now active in more than 80 countries.
PURPOSE OF THE ROL:
Plan International’s mission is to promote children’s rights and equality for girls worldwide. As an independent development and humanitarian organization, we work alongside children, young people, supporters, and partners to address the root causes of the challenges faced by girls and all vulnerable children. We support children’s rights from birth through adulthood, empowering them to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity.
In the context of growing humanitarian needs in the Latin American region, characterized by irregular migration, forced displacement, extreme weather events and socio-economic crises, there is a need to implement comprehensive and coordinated strategies that prioritize saving lives, protecting children and their families and their recovery from crises.
In response to these challenges, Plan International works to ensure the implementation of humanitarian projects that address these needs, aligning with international standards, organizational policies, and a child rights-based approach.
Plan International leverages the reach, experience, and knowledge gained over more than 80 years of building significant partnerships for children and working in over 75 countries. Currently, it is implementing a global strategy for 2023-2027, “Unstoppable Girls and Young Women.” In Central America and Mexico, the “Unstoppable Generation” strategy is being developed and implemented through three programs: 1) Generation Free from Violence, 2) Generation with Decisiveness and Leadership, and 3) Generation with Opportunities.
Plan promotes children’s rights and is committed to the protection of children and to gender equality. Therefore, it takes the necessary measures to ensure that its interventions and the actions of its staff are in accordance with this policy. Likewise, we respect the principle of equal opportunities and non-discrimination against people based on their race, color, gender, age, origin, language, disability, sexual orientation, religious and/or political beliefs, marital status, or pregnancy.
