International Coordinator SERA At Action Education

For more than 40 years, Action Education (formerly Aide et Action), an international development association through education, has ensured access to quality education for the most vulnerable and marginalized populations, particularly children, girls and women, so that everyone can take control of their own development and contribute to a more peaceful and sustainable world.

Because access to quality education helps combat poverty and disease, mitigate climate change, and build peace in a sustainable world, we promote lifelong learning. Therefore, we pay particular attention to early childhood education and protection, access to and quality of education at the primary and secondary levels, as well as vocational training and social integration.

By basing our intervention on the values ​​of dignity, inclusion and integrity, as well as on the principles of action of transparency, accountability and solidarity, and thanks to the support of our 51,500 donors, we are currently carrying out more than 70 projects in 13 countries (in Africa, Asia and Europe) for nearly 1.1 million children, young people and adults.

Action Education recently adopted its new strategic plan (2025–2029). This ambitious yet pragmatic plan places quality and accountability at the heart of its operational outlook. In a dynamic and challenging external environment, and with funding opportunities that demand rigorous monitoring and evaluation, Action Education must increasingly maintain its high standards for quality, accountability, and evaluation (M&E) with its teams and partners. Therefore, we are recruiting our future M&E Coordinator.

MISSIONS

Reporting to the International Director of Operations, the International SERA Coordinator plays a key role in monitoring and ensuring the methodological quality of Action Education’s (AE) activities worldwide. They structure the SERA department within the International Operations Directorate, working in close collaboration with the Technical Resources and Institutional Funding departments. They support SERA teams in the field, maintain and develop strategic partnerships related to monitoring and evaluation, and oversee the monitoring and evaluation system for the organization’s overall strategic plan.

Your mission will consist of:

Structuring of the SERA department

  • Definition of frameworks and coordination mechanisms with the various departments and fields
  • Setting up and facilitating the internal SERA community of practice to promote the exchange of best practices between different geographical areas.
  • Stabilization of the monitoring process for the performance indicators of the organization’s overall strategic plan 2025-2029

Deployment and application of the SERA policy

  • Operationalization: Support and monitor the application of the new SERA policy and its implementation guide.
  • Quality Control: Ensure compliance with SERA minimum standards across all missions (Africa, Asia, Europe).
  • Harmonization: Create and maintain a global dashboard for monitoring the organization’s strategic indicators to facilitate institutional management.

Support for projects on “Education for out-of-school children”

  • Engineering: Supporting countries in the implementation of monitoring and evaluation plans specific to projects for access to and retention of out-of-school children in school (measuring achievements, retention in school, protection).
  • Recruitment & Training: Participate in the recruitment of SERA country teams and ensure their skills development
  • Technical Support: Supporting teams in setting up robust databases and using mobile data collection tools

Facilitating Accountability and Learning

  • Accountability Systems: Oversee the deployment of complaint management and feedback mechanisms accessible to children and communities.
  • Measuring results and impact: Supporting teams in conducting project evaluations and developing a culture of impact measurement.
  • Learning Cycle: Ensure follow-up of capitalisation processes by organisation in particular of “lessons learned” workshops with teams and partners.

PROFILE SOUGHT

  • Education: Master’s degree (Bac+5) in Statistics, Development Economics, International Project Management, or Social Sciences
  • Specific training in Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in MEAL/SERA coordination roles with at least significant field experience
  • Experience with educational projects is a plus
  • Skills: Proficiency in results-based management (RBM); Excellent command of Excel; Expertise in data collection (Kobo, Toolbox) and data visualization (Power BI/Tableau);
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Excellent remote training and facilitation skills; analytical rigor; pedagogical skills; proficiency in new monitoring and evaluation tools and artificial intelligence.

PRACTICAL ASPECTS

  • Duration: 12-month fixed-term contract
  • Start date: From 15/05/2026
  • Location: Position based in Paris (11th arrondissement) (2 days of work/week). Travel within France may be required, with 50% of transportation costs reimbursed.
  • Benefits: €10 meal vouchers (60% employer contribution) and health insurance covered at 75% by the employer
  • Salary: starting from €45,000
