Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international NGO that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations, and training. INSO provides daily support to more than 1,500 NGOs operating in 24 of the world’s most insecure countries. INSO is registered in the Netherlands, with its headquarters located in The Hague, a city renowned for its international focus on peace and justice.
INSO Syria
The Syria program supports more than 290 NGOs to deliver vitally needed aid and assistance to an estimated 13.1 million people in need across the country. First launched as an emergency response operation in 2014, INSO Syria has grown to become a program covering all Syrian governorates, with a Country Office in Damascus. The Syria conflict is unique and complex: you will find that every day is different and there is always more to learn.
Job Summary
The IT Assistant position is a highly rewarding role, offering a unique opportunity to work in a close-knit team supporting the provision of safety services to the NGO community.
You will ensure the IT and Internet needs of all INSO staff are efficiently met. You will also support basic administrative management, such as asset database management, staff movement/travel tracking, and facility management tracking. This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Main Responsibilities
- Be the first line of IT Support for employees, either in person or remotely via TeamViewer and Microsoft Teams.
- Install and configure computer operating systems and applications.
- Ensure emails and key electronic files are backed up on INSO cloud storage.
- Prepare and deliver new laptops and phones to new employees.
- Organize, schedule, upgrade, and maintain all office laptops, phones, and equipment in coordination with Ops. Manager.
- Troubleshoot INSO SharePoint or OneDrive sync issues.
- Closely work with INSO departments in order to understand and respond to their IT needs.
- Participate in the procurement process as required.
- Support staff travel arrangements, hotel bookings, and movement-related coordination.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date logistics databases/trackers. Such as an asset registry, facilities maintenance log, and staff travel/movement tracker.
- Support periodic physical asset verification and record reconciliation.
- Identify computer or network equipment shortages and notify the Ops. Manager.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- 2+ years of work experience in IT/logistics.
- Extensive experience with Windows operating systems and other Microsoft technologies.
- Knowledge of network management.
- General IT knowledge (network set-ups, hardware, troubleshooting).
- Fluent in the written and spoken English language.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant field.
- Attention to detail, proactive, problem-solving skills, and detail-oriented.
Nice to Have:
- Microsoft certificates
- SharePoint Lists, Power Apps, and Power Automate experience
- NGO experience

Terms & Conditions
12-month fixed-term contract,1.75 working days annual leave per month. This position is based in Damascus and is open only to individuals with the right to live and work there.
