The Climate Adaptation Activity is a five-year USAID-funded program that seeks to build long-term, locally-led resilience to climate change by promoting sustainable livelihoods and water security, which should result in significant environmental gains in the watershed. of Dajabón, beyond the province and in Haiti. By engaging communities, leveraging private financing and public resources, enabling data-driven decision-making, and creating diverse partnerships based on inclusion and market-based approaches, the Climate Adaptation Activity will accelerate social, economic, and sustainable environments.
For this purpose, and to comply with all the accounting requirements of the Project, Counterpart seeks to hire an Accountant under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Administration who will be responsible for the tasks described below. This position will be based in Santiago and/or Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to the financial area.
- Carry out the accounting record of office operations in accordance with the policies established by the central office.
- Record the expenses and income of the Project in the accounting system.
- Prepare transfers and bank reconciliations and checks.
- Support in the preparation of monthly operational and programmatic budgets, provide funds to maintain the cash flow and financial operation of the Project.
- Manage petty cash by coordinating with the Finance and Administration Manager and other designated personnel.
- Prepare and present financial cost reports, budget projections and accounting follow-ups.
- Prepare and carry out payroll processes for project personnel.
- Keep physical and digital accounting files updated.
- Support with local and central office audit requests.
- Prepare and certify the necessary accounting and accountability reports before the Dominican authorities, as required.
- Any other activity that is required.
Qualifications
- Professional graduated in Public Accounting, registered with the Institute of Authorized Public Accountants of the Dominican Republic (ICPARD).
- Minimum experience of five (5) years performing accounting and/or financial tasks in private institutions, non-profit organizations, or cooperation agencies.
- Demonstrated experience in accounting processes and knowledge of good financial practices.
- Experience in managing accounting systems and banking platforms.
- Knowledge of the regulations and standards of international cooperation projects, preferably.
- Complete command of the Spanish and English language at a basic level.
- Skills in using Microsoft Office, particularly in the use of Word and Excel.
- Teamwork skills.
- Be highly organized and focused on details.
- Organized with good interpersonal relationships and accustomed to working under pressure.
