Case Manager At Civitas Maxima

Civitas Maxima (CM) coordinates a network of national and international lawyers and investigators who work for the interest of victims of international crimes. It operates in situations where no legal action to bring the perpetrators to justice has been successful and works in close partnership with the Global Justice and Research Project (GJRP), based in Monrovia. Civitas Maxima represents victims of war crimes and crimes against humanity from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast.

Position: Case Manager

Contract: 6 months fixed-term consultancy, full time, 40h per week

Location: The Hague (the Netherlands)

Deadline for application: 8th June 2022

Envisioned starting date: 1st August 2022

Proposed monthly consulting fees : between EUR 2,000 and EUR 2,500 (gross) based on the level of experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the responsibility of CM Director, based in Geneva, and under the direct supervision of Deputy Director and Legal Counsel based in The Hague, the Case Manager will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Assist in reorganising CM’s server and put up to date any case management backlog;
  • Manage, store and organise files in the server, including (but not limited to) working on folders’ structure, renaming documents, and converting files into other formats;
  • Create, organise and update excel tables to be used as databases for witnesses, statements, and other evidentiary material;
  • Systematise the storing, archiving and organisation of documents in the server;
  • Analyse and synthetise witness statements and other evidentiary material;
  • Enter documents, data, and metadata in Lexis Nexis Case Map software; and
  • Perform any other tasks as instructed by Legal counsel.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in law, or similar.
  • Work experience:
    • At least 2 years of experience as a case manager or with document management/archiving systems;
    • Working experience in international criminal tribunals is an asset; and
    • Knowledge of and experience related to West Africa, especially Liberia, is an asset.
  • Languages:
    • Fluent in English;
    • Working knowledge of French is an asset.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Excellent organizational, analysis and synthetising skills;
    • High degree of flexibility, autonomy and adaptability;
    • Excellent ability to work with computers (windows OS) and Excel proficiency;
    • Knowledge and experience of Lexis Nexis Case Map software;
    • Ability to work independently; and
    • High motivation and demonstrated interest in international justice.

Authorization to work in the Netherlands.
