OFFER SUMMARY

Under the responsibility of the regional PCV manager, the volunteer cooperator will carry out his mandate with the partner organization in order to ensure the implementation of individual and organizational capacity building activities within the framework of the voluntary cooperation program. The advisor will be required to advise, assist and technically support the partner’s team in their reflections and work surrounding the organization’s internal and/or external communication. The person holding the position also contributes to the development of reports and communication articles related to the activities developed and implemented during their mandate.

RESPONSIBILITIES*:

  • Ensure the completion of PCV program implementation activities and the establishment of relationships of trust with the partner organization;
  • Identify and analyze the internal and external communication tools and strategies of the partner organization;
  • Support the development of an external communications plan in close collaboration with team members responsible for communications and advocacy;
  • Support the development of a strategy related to philanthropy and sponsorships in close collaboration with the team members responsible for partnerships and communications;
  • Support proper implementation of the communications plan in close collaboration with members of the partner’s communications team and by involving the heads of the expertise centers and program managers;
  • Collaborate in updating or developing internal and external communication tools;
  • Identify needs and organize training modules in communication and/or fundraising;
  • Support the team responsible for communications in capitalizing and disseminating innovative experiences and initiatives, particularly through social media;
  • Provide technical support in the drafting and layout of the annual activity report and improvement of the website and the news bulletin (newsletter);
  • Write articles on the work carried out and on the experience of voluntary cooperation;
  • Report on the progress of activities carried out in collaboration with the partner organization and maintain regular contact with the regional PCV manager.

*The responsibilities are given as an example and may differ from the developed mandate that will be proposed to the candidate. All mandates are developed with partners on the basis of expressed needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have permanent residence or Canadian nationality;
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in communications or other relevant field;
  • Minimum of 2 years of significant work experience in a communications manager position or in an equivalent position;
  • Mastery of French, both written and spoken. The person must be able to write, revise, comment on and correct texts in French;
  • Ability to prepare and deliver training, and provide recommendations;
  • Mastery of new information technologies;
  • Exceptional ability to work in a team while being autonomous in his work;
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office 2010 suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and great adaptation skills;

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS (at least two)

  • Relevant experience in organizational communication and the development of communication plans and strategies;
  • Good knowledge of social media and ability to support the improvement of a website;
  • Experience in fundraising and developing philanthropy strategies.
