About IFIT: Headquartered in Barcelona, the Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFIT) is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to helping fragile and conflict-affected states achieve more sustainable negotiations and transitions out of war or authoritarianism. IFIT’s core work is to serve as an expert resource on integrated policy solutions for locally-led efforts to break cycles of conflict or repression.
Role: Reporting to the Communications Manager and working under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, the position is focused on supporting the organisation’s communications, outreach and visibility tasks and thus contributing to the effective external positioning of IFIT.
Work schedule: Part-time (20 hours a week) from Monday to Friday

Probatory Period: 2 months
Location: Barcelona, minimum 50% office presence required
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct day-to-day management and maintenance of all aspects of the IFIT website, including uploading and upgrading content using WordPress; liaising with IFIT staff to develop content; identifying areas for improvement and further development; and liaising with IFIT’s external web agency to coordinate more extensive structural changes as required.
- Support the development of written, graphic, and multimedia communication products that capture IFIT’s original ideas, as per IFIT’s communication strategy and project needs (e.g. website posts, short videos, infographics, audiovisual content, social media content, etc)
- Support advancement of external engagement and media outreach activities and initiatives (e.g. supporting media relations, pitching of content, development of partnerships, etc).
- Provide operational and administrative support for IFIT’s communications initiatives, external platforms, internal systems, and publication processes (e.g. logistics and technical support for IFIT events; preparing MailChimp mail-outs; maintaining IFIT’s YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and other online accounts; supporting the coordination of publication processes, etc).
- Help in supporting IFIT’s country projects to plan and implement country-level communications initiatives.
- Help with other tasks according to the needs of the organisation.
Required qualifications:
- University degree in a relevant field (e.g. communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, international relations, social science or a similar field).
- Minimum two years of professional experience in communications, preferably within an international non-government organisation, including website content management, social media and, ideally, media relations.
- Adept user of WordPress website content management system.
- Adept user of Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and other social media platforms, in a professional capacity.
- Knowledge and skills in image-, audio-, and video editing software (e.g. Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition); design platforms (e.g. Canva); and marketing automation platforms (e.g. MailChimp).
- Outstanding written English.
- Good drafting and editing skills.
- Highly detail-oriented, organised, and reliable.
- Familiarity with conflict and political issues, especially in countries of IFIT’s work.
