WHAT DO WE DO …

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for more than 40 years, has provided relief to populations victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to vital needs, drinking, eating and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and promotion hygiene but also in the essential aspect of food security and means of existence. Present in more than 20 countries, the SI teams – 3,000 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

THE MISSION

This request for expressions of interest is open to all eligible consultants, in accordance with SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL recruitment procedures.

GOAL / PURPOSE :

The main objective of the mission is to refine the strategy of SI’s third axis of intervention in the area “Reducing the level of structural food insecurity via an integrated WASH/SAME intervention for agricultural recovery and support for pastoralism”, develop an intervention logic, and write a first draft of a concept note for AFD and BHA / USAID contributing to the food security of populations vulnerable to shocks by strengthening their means of existence, particularly agropastoral. This will therefore involve (i) carrying out a field diagnosis, (ii) identifying an intervention logic that falls within the mandate and intervention capacities of SI and (iii) writing a concept note which will be presented to the AFD, and other donors.

All these documents must comply with the AFD format

DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER

LIST OF MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Carrying out a Food Security and livelihood diagnosis in the Atacora department (Benin) and in the savannah region (Togo)
  • Proposal for an intervention logic:
  • Writing a concept note

METHODOLOGY :

The methodology to be defined to fulfill the mission as described above is at the initiative of the consultant and must at least include:

  • Phase de briefing
  • At the headquarters of Solidarités International
  • At the level of coordination in Lomé
  • Review of secondary data:
  • Primary data collection:
  • Data analysis, writing of deliverables
  • Debriefing organized with the Solidarités Internationale teams involved in the project

DELIVERABLES:

  • Complete diagnostic report
  • A concept note in French in AFD format
