CONTEXT
MSF OCB (Operational Centre of Brussels) ICT Unit delivers ICT services to MSF field teams (approx. 6000 users) in about 40 countries around the world and to +/- 500 users in Brussels Headquarters. In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, the OCB ICT Unit is a field-centric and people-inspired team and our vision is to “digitally empower MSF to improve our humanitarian and medical impact”. It aims to provide and support MSF with a “fit-for-purpose, reliable and secure digital ecosystem that is responsive to MSF operational and organizational needs”. It enables new and more effective ways of working; enhances transversal collaboration between functional departments, supports exploration and innovation.
The Data Management & Analytics team, working at the Operations Center in Brussels in the ICT Unit oversees the implementation of a Data Mesh Strategy to help operations deal with and gain insights from their data.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Data Analyst and Governance Specialist, you will have equal responsibilities in the following areas:
Data Governance Specialist:
- Building the foundation of the data mesh federated governance, including Master Data Management Policies, Data Catalogue Implementation.
- Facilitating and stimulating interaction between different data mesh domains to define Data Quality and Security standard policies, the next key Data Product to add to the data catalogue.
- Owning and following the different data governance tools and processes defining the data governance.
Data Analyst:
- Coaching and promoting the use of the entire Power BI suite for data analysis and visualization, and leading training sessions.
- Participating in small data analysis projects and implementing proof-of-concept (PoC) deployments using agile methodologies.
- Following the evolution of Power BI and choosing when and how to adopt the latest trends within MSF needs.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science with a focus on data management, or previous professional experience in a similar position
- At least two years of professional experience in data governance
- Strong experience with Power BI, including 1 year of practical experience
- Previous experience within MSF or with other international NGO providing medical assistance is a strong asset
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Data Governance, Data Lifecycle, Data Integration, Master Data Management and Data Cataloguing
- Ease in communicating with different stakeholder (from nurses to ICT people)
- Comfortable in facilitating workshop and federate objectives
- Familiarity with Agile and PoC deployments
- Knowledge of software life cycle management and continuous integration practices
- Knowledge of solution implementing Data Governance, Catalog, Dictionary (Collibra, Atlan, Informatica, Data Catalog, …) is an asset
- Knowledge of Data Mesh Framework is a plus
- Knowledge of Talend Open Studio for Data Integration is a plus.
- Familiarity with the Azure data suite (Data Factory, Synapse, etc.) is a plus
