DME Officer At Search for Common Ground

Search For Common Ground is an international non-profit organization under American law that promotes the transformation of conflicts. With its headquarters in Washington DC, and a European office in Brussels in Belgium, Search’s mission is to transform the way individuals, organizations and governments manage conflicts – far from confrontation approaches towards cooperative solutions.

In line with its intervention strategy, the NGO is strengthening the capacities of communities in the area of peacebuilding in order to strengthen community resilience. The approach favored by Search is participatory because it puts the beneficiaries at the heart of reflections and actions.

As part of the implementation of a Cross-border Project between Burkina and Benin, Search is recruiting a DM&E Officer based in Kandi, Benin for a 12-month contract in Beninese labor law with the possibility of renewal. The taking up of office will be done upon availability of funding

Position summary

    • under the supervision of the DME Manager of Burkina, he / she will design the TDRs and tools, monitor the dynamics of conflicts in the project areas and ensure that the program is informed of the evolution of the context of the conflicts identified. He / she will have to ensure that the Project Managers and the Field Agents apply the recommendations. He / She will help the program in the design of new projects, through a relevant analysis of the social, political and economic contexts of the country.

Main responsibilities

    • Design the tools for monitoring and evaluating projects in collaboration with the program team, and under the supervision of the DME manager ; – Design and plan the various field missions necessary as part of monitoring and evaluation activities in collaboration with the program team; – Assist the DME manager in the design of monitoring and evaluation tools ( reference terms, evaluation methodological document, survey questionnaires, interview guides, etc. ); – Participate in the design, the implementation, and analysis of the monitoring and evaluation mechanism of Search For Common Ground in Benin; – Ensure the collection, processing and analysis of monitoring and evaluation data in the field according to the tools approved by the DME department :collection of qualitative and quantitative data as part of quarterly monitoring missions; – Develop in collaboration with the program team, monitoring and information collection tools on project activities: pre and post test, activity evaluation sheet, report sheets, Attendance lists, etc; – Assist the Monitoring-Evaluation Manager in the training of program teams on the use of monitoring tools, the understanding of objectives and monitoring systems ; – Contribute to the computerization of the data collection system through the programming of software for automatic data collection and recording ( by telephone, Ipads, tablet, etc ) contribute to the review and updating of the project’s logical framework;- Participate in the preparation of project proposals in collaboration with the program team, and under the technical supervision of the DME Manager; – Contribute to the drafting of periodic and activity reports.

Qualification and Competences required

    • Have a license in monitoring and evaluation, project management, statistics, Social sciences, or in a similar field; – Have at least 6 years of experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation ; – Having experience in a similar position in an international NGO is an asset; – Having increased knowledge in the field of social cohesion; – Excellent organizational and editorial capacity; – Be flexible, have a strong sense of initiative and autonomy in work; – Excellent ability to work under pressure ; Good knowledge of conflict sensitivity and « practices Do not Harm »; – Also have a cultural sensitivity and adaptability ; – Master of Google Drive and monitoring evaluation software; – Mastering local languages is an asset.- Perfect command of the French written and oral compulsory; – Being able to write a report in French; – Knowledge of English ( oral + written ) is an asset ;
