JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Assistant is responsible for following up on the daily and monthly financial transactions, checking all the documents of the procurement and HR departments before making the transactions, and preparing all the documents of the financial reports according to the policies of MG and the donors.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Execute follow-up expenses in alignment with the approved plans by the Program Department, adhering to the budget sanctioned by the Donor.
  2. Streamline and oversee all banking transactions and operations efficiently.
  3. Perform bank reconciliations for all accounts meticulously.
  4. Generate employee payroll after receipt from the HR department, ensuring alignment with respective accounts and amounts.
  5. Scrutinize purchase transactions prior to supplier payment in accordance with donor and internal policies of MG.
  6. Prepare comprehensive payment vouchers for all disbursements, including bank and PTT, on a weekly basis.
  7. Ensure prompt settlement of bills, taxes, rents, and supplier payments.
  8. Define and record all donor receipts within the Turkish system, while preparing 4B and 4C documentation, and liaise with the legal accountant regarding financial matters.
  9. Scan and archive expenditure documents, uploading them onto the designated drive, and securely transmitting them to the accountant monthly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

should have the following skills, education, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in the financial department, with experience in the humanitarian sector preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and reporting standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and be able to interpret financial data to make informed decisions.
  • Detail-oriented to ensure that financial records are accurate and all financial reporting requirements are met.
  • Able to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Should be proficient in financial software and accounting (QuickBooks Online) packages, as well as Microsoft Excel and other relevant software programs.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic, with Turkish language skills preferred.
  • Strong commitment to the values and mission of the organization.
