Context :

Terre des hommes foundation (Tdh) focuses on developing and strengthening health interventions to improve the conditions of the most vulnerable children around the world and to make a sustainable systemic change. In the frame of its Health Programme, Tdh works to improve access to good quality primary health care for children and their mothers with three defined priorities: perinatal health, digital health, and health systems strengthening. Tdh’s interventions on health contribute to the preparedness and resilience of local communities to respond to acute and protracted crises.

Main Responsibilities :

The objective of this post is to support the Health Programme to reinforce Tdh’s position as a renowned international actor in Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH). Under the supervision of the Health Deputy Manager, the Health Advisor contributes with the definition and execution of health activities according to Tdh’s strategy and country needs, providing technical guidance in relevant health areas (perinatal health, child health, and nutrition), humanitarian and development contexts, as well as in project cycle and knowledge management.

Specific Responsibilities :

  1. Perinatal health, child health, and nutrition:
  • Provide sound, relevant, and up-to-dated technical guidance contributing to the development of proposal, modes of action, and project protocols, to respond to health needs in both development and humanitarian contexts, with a Nexus approach.
  • Coordinate communications with external volunteer advisors ensuring timely and adequate contribution to field activities at regional and country levels.
  • Contribute to the definition, communication, and appropriateness of the general health strategy and the specific perinatal, digital health and nexus strategies.
  • Keep track of health field activities with regular updates of the health project database including contributions from the team.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of operational research activities for the generation of evidence-based results.
  1. Project cycle management:
  • Contribute to the definition of terms of reference, follow up, and revision of reports, of situation analysis and project evaluation and capitalization activities.
  • Coordinate the regular update and communication of the general health monitoring and evaluation framework, according to the programmatic priorities defined in the strategy.
  • Revise project proposals to ensure alignment with health indicators framework and the clear definition of monitoring and evaluation tools ad plans.
  • Collect, synthesise, and document results, evaluations, and lessons learnt for reporting purposes.
  • Contribute to the analysis of health data and indicators for the institutional annual report and external communications.
  1. Knowledge management:
  • Made available and communicate an updated list of available and relevant trainings on health for all Tdh health staff, organized internally or through external training organizations.
  • Schedule regular webinars on topics agreed with the team and according to technical needs for the programme.
  • Maintain and share information through the health knowledge centre with regular updates of key documents and events.
  • Contribute to the periodical revision of Tdh’s web site providing updated information.
  1. Other responsibilities:
  • Implement the Health-Migration roadmap in collaboration with the Migration team.
  • Act as focal point for “Advocacy” and “Empowerment” ensuring timely communications with the institutional focal points and the health team.
  • Participate in institutional working groups as required and according to availability.
  • Participate in team meetings and external meetings of assigned networks and fora.
  • Under her perimeter of responsibility, represent the health programme within Tdh, and Tdh when in contact with external actors.

Profile :

Education :

Professional degree in nursing, medicine, or related health field. A post-graduate degree in public health or health management would be an asset.

Experience :

Experience of at least 2 years on implementation of MNCH projects, in both development and humanitarian contexts.

Experience on the implementation of project cycle management, from proposal writing to reporting.

Salary :

Salary between CHF 6’300.-and CHF 7’500.- gross x 13 depending on the level of experience.
