PIH JOB DESCRIPTION (Information Technology Assistant)

Position Title: Information Technology Assistant

Reports to: IT Manager

Department: Operations Department

Work Location: Monrovia with frequent travel to Harper

Employment Type: Full Time

Position Overview:

Under the general supervision of the IT Manager, the position will provide support to department (s) and staff on all aspects of IT Management.

Position summary:

The incumbent is the focus person for the IT Desk. He/she will support all PIH Staff in managing all internet connections both in Maryland and Monrovia and to ensure that all site has 100% uptown.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Technically:

  • Support in cables cabling, router and switch configuration during network installation;
  • Install and configure Microsoft Office, STATA, Anti-Virus, Quick Books, and Adobe software on Windows XP and Vista OS;
  • Install open source software like Atlassian Jira, Confluence, Zabbix, Nagios, and Cacti to facilitate system and network administration;
  • Assist to manage all of PIH computers, and other devices in the sites by ensuring that these devices are working at optimal capacity and scheduling a regular maintenance program for all of them; this involves virus cleaning, data backup, hardware maintenance and software maintenance;
  • Support in printer and photocopier Management and repair to ensure that all printers are in good working condition and are supplied;
  • Assist to manage and troubleshoots all the networks in all sites involves network installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance and extension;
  • Assist to maintain a broad knowledge of operating systems and hardware.
  • Provide Help-Desk support to PIH staffs, MOH and partners (Hospital, Health Centers, etc.) when it is needed;
  • OpenMRS and EMR system implementation and management;

Administratively:

  • Develop, maintain and report on IT equipment inventory and ensure optimization of IT equipment, hardware and software;
  • support to Identify IT technical gaps among PIH staff and partner’s teams and help to plan short;
  • training on basic IT skills and continuous capacity building;
  • Assist to identify the IT need in Maryland/Monrovia and help to prepare the procurement request;
  • Receive the purchased IT Equipment, and distribute them to the end users;
  • Support to prepare a monthly report of IT department in Maryland;
  • Coordinate with other PIH team to schedule updates in the IT needs of PIH-Liberia;
  • Under delegation of IT Manager, he /she can Attend and actively participate in meetings and trainings;
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor;
  • The IT-Assistant will report to the IT Manager for all technical and programmatic subjects and can report to Director of Operations when needed;

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field with at least two year of experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in the following areas:
    • Window Server configurations;
    • Windows and Linux server administration
    • Network administration;
    • Web application development: Java, Ajax, JavaScript, HTML, Server-side Scripting languages;
    • Knowledge of VSAT equipment and set-up;
    • Knowledge of Point to Point configuration and set-up;
    • Knowledge of Firewall (Meraki, Barracuda ….) Management

Experience and Expertise

Preferred:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience within information technology field.
  • Demonstrated competencies in the following areas: technical capability, business acumen, strategic thinking, customer/client focus, and leadership. Experience in the most current technologies and products used in the industries.

Technical Competencies:

Superior Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 administration, MFA, SharePoint

Behavioral Competencies:

• Ability to effectively work on a team in a complex, fast-paced environment.

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and country.
  • Interest in social justice is strongly desirable.
  • Ability to have zero tolerance approach to sexual exploitation, abuse and sexual harassment.
