TIYYD is seeking an Innovative Education Manager to oversee the overall functions of our Innovative Education Program. You will coordinate managerial and logistical tasks and work with our mentors to strengthen the program and ensure it stays true to its vision and goals.

ABOUT KARAM HOUSE
Karam House is an innovative workspace for Syrian refugee teens, in Istanbul and Reyhanli, Turkey, which defy traditional approaches to refugee education. At Karam Houses, hundreds of Syrian refugee teens learn through access to technology (maker spaces, internet, computers), expert mentorship (Syrians refugee architects and engineers), and a sophisticated design-based curriculum (developed by MIT grads) that teaches youth how to build their ideas and their community.
We think about refugees and humanitarian aid differently and so we do things differently. We believe in investing deeply in communities affected by conflict.
What We’re Looking For: The Essentials
- University degree in a studio-based design field (i.e. architecture, computational design, industrial design, etc.) or equivalent experience and comfort with design
- Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken)
- Proven management experience
- Proven program/project management experience
- Budget and grant management experience
- Highly organized and capable of handling multiple caseloads
- Knowledge of data management tools (such as Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)
- Strong communication skills and effective listening skills
- Ability to work independently
- Turkish Citizen or Istanbul issued Residency Permit
What We’re Looking For: Strongly Preferred
- Experience working on Syria.
- Turkish proficiency
- Robust technical writing skills
- Experience with and functional knowledge of Google Drive
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Innovation to coordinate the overall work of the Innovative Education Program. You will focus particularly on streamlining managerial and logistical tasks (from developing the teaching schedule each term to processing budget requests and tracking the performance of our studios). Together with the mentors, you will strengthen the program and maintain its overall vision and goals, while collaborating with other department teams to ensure day-to-day operations are running smoothly.
Specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Program Management, Development, and Quality:
- Lead development of program strategy and financial plan
- Annual and quarterly program reports
- Co-develop studio topics and curriculum and identify opportunities to expand the program
- Develop and implement evidence-based practices (ongoing monitoring of progress, impact evaluation, program KPIs, and proper data management)
- Continuously explore opportunities for collaboration (studios, seminars, internships) with other TIYYD programs as well as other implementers
Operations Management:
- Assist with the Ministry of National Education protocol reporting and renewal process
- Coordinate procurement plans
- Contribute to recruitment and onboarding of Innovative Education team members
Team Management and Development:
- Lead and coach Innovative Education mentors
- Implement TIYYD’s performance management system
Budget Management:
- Manage program budget and spending
REPORTS TO: Turkey Programs Manager
LOCATION: Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, Turkey, with routine travel to Reyhanli for a total of four months per year
HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Saturday – Wednesday.
COMPENSATION: Based on the candidate’s level of experience, qualifications, and the organization’s salary scale in Turkish Lira.**
