The Program

The Fiji Program Support Facility (the Facility) was established in 2017 to support and implement Australia’s aid programs such as health, education, emergency preparedness and response and governance in Fiji. The Facility also supports the Australia Awards in Fiji and Tuvalu. The Facility integrates cross-cutting themes, including gender equality, disability and social inclusion, climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction, across sectoral programs. In particular, the Facility seeks to strengthen program outcomes by better addressing the needs of targeted beneficiaries including those who are often marginalised.

The Facility Management Unit (FMU) in Suva provides centralised overarching management of the Facility’s programs and activities including operations, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), communications and public diplomacy and integration of cross-cutting themes. The communications team implements the Facility’s Communications Strategy to promote the visibility of Australia’s aid and contribute to stronger development outcomes across the Facility sector programs.

The Position

The Communications Coordinator provides support across the Facility for the development and dissemination of all communication materials, including producing engaging content for digital media, and contributes to the planning and delivery of public diplomacy events. The Communications Coordinator works in a small communications team within the Facility Management Unit (FMU) and takes the lead in communications support to selected sector programs. The Communications Coordinator also works closely with the DFAT Communications team to develop and distribute communication products, support public diplomacy and related events and provide branding advice.

The salary will be determined from an annual rate of FJD55,450 to $59,341.00 (inclusive of employer superannuation contribution), dependent upon the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.

The Person

The successful candidate will hold a degree qualification in Journalism, Communications, or a related field of study. They will have demonstrated experience in providing communication support to a large program or organisation with competing demands. They will have extensive experience in preparing high quality communications materials for various mediums. Agility, persistence and result-orientation are key for this position.
