Intern Graphic Designer At UNOPS

The Communications Group (CG) provides communication support and services to UNOPS personnel and country and partnership offices around the world. CG develops communications strategies, policies, plans and channels based on communications needs and expectations; maintains and strengthens UNOPS corporate identity through official reporting to the Executive Board and other external communications, enabling accountability and transparency. CG communicates a clear direction and strategic focus, ensuring that the people of UNOPS understand and can demonstrate their contribution to its success thus facilitates and encourages the sharing of information, knowledge and best practices consequently achieving dialogue throughout the organization.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Communications Manager- Brand and Design, the Intern- Graphic Designer will support the production and dissemination of graphics materials about UNOPS for external audiences. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a test to assess their creative capacity. Note: All candidates are asked to include a portfolio with their application.

The intern is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.

At the end of this internship, the successful candidate will have gained:

  • Exposure to UNOPS external communication activities;
  • Specific experience in communications at the corporate level

Requirements

Education

Enrolment in a University Degree Programme in Graphic Design, Illustration, Visual Communication studies or a related field. Applicants who have graduated from such studies within the recent three years will also be considered eligible for the position.

Experience

· Any prior work experience is not required.

· A diverse portfolio of work demonstrating a range of visual concepts is required, based on the submitted portfolio, shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a test to assess their creative capacity.

· An understanding of development, humanitarian or international affairs is desired.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English is required;
  • Knowledge of French and/or Spanish would be considered an asset.
  • Exposure to an international work environment;
  • Exposure to headquarters.

This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.
Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Further, UNOPS may provide a one time travel lumpsum of 500 USD. However, they must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and necessary visa arrangements.
