Jordan Digital Strategic Communications Training Experts At Generations For Peace

Purpose

Generations For Peace (GFP) is seeking to assign Digital Strategic Communications Training Experts to deliver 1 to 5 days of training in Arabic to ten municipality staff members on the topics outlined in this document.

Generations For Peace (GFP) is a leading global non-profit peacebuilding organisation founded by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan in 2007. Dedicated to sustainable conflict transformation at the grassroots, GFP empowers volunteer leaders of youth to promote active tolerance and responsible citizenship in communities experiencing different forms of conflict and violence. Carefully facilitated sport-based games, art, advocacy, dialogue, empowerment, and media activities provide an entry point to engage children, youth, and adults, and a vehicle for integrated education and sustained behavioural change.

About the programme

In January, Generations For Peace (GFP) launched the ‘Thiqa’ programme in collaboration with the municipalities of Al-Salt and Al-Karak, supported by Porticus. The seven-month programme aims to enhance youth civic engagement by building capacities and facilitating transformative dialogue between officials from the two municipalities and youth leaders residing in the respective governorates. As part of the programme, GFP conducted a content analysis of municipality communication strategies and online content, identifying areas to offer advanced support for their social media communication efforts. A training workshop will be conducted in April to support the municipalities in these areas.

Scope of Work (Topics)

The selected expert/s will be requested to prepare materials and deliver sessions covering the following topics:

  • Introduction to strategic communication: What it is and why it is important and how is it developed (Defining the objectives, key messages, the audiences, the channels, the timely dissemination, using the right tools, best practices with examples and exercises.
  • Principles of trust building through communications. Theoretical discussion: What are the attributes of a trust building communication? Practical implications, key findings from the content analysis. Discussion on the implications of the study.
  • Impactful communication strategies: Principles (Humanizing stories, multimedia storytelling, prioritizing and selecting ‘the best stuff to share’ – quality VS quantity.)
  • Crisis communication principles and best practices.
  • Creating and maintaining a positive online brand and presence: Types of content, best applications, and free tools to use, photos and design, drafting captions.
  • Optimizing reach: Tools to monitor the reach and engagement: AB testing, web analytics, sentiment analysis, smart goal setting for a communication strategy.
  • Ethical considerations in communication: Fact checking the reliability of the resources, ethics of the visual elements, inclusive communication, and gender-sensitive communications.

By the end of the training the participants are expected to

  • Understand the importance of strategic communication in governance.
  • Learn strategic planning to build long-term trust building with their constituents.
  • Enhance their technical skills in strategic communication to enable them to enhance their communication work.
  • Apply the techniques of fact checking, inclusivity, ethical considerations in their communications.

Experience and Requirement

  1. At least four years of experience in training material development and training delivery in the identified topics or parts of it.
  2. Proven experience working in the identified areas or parts of it. Experience in NGO trainings and trainings of public staff is a plus.
  3. Excellent technical capacities to prepare presentation digitally and deliver the training workshop sessions in Arabic.

تبحث هيئة أجيال السلام عن خبير/ة أو في مجال تدريب الاتصالات الاستراتيجية الرقمية لتقديم تدريب باللغة العربية لعشرة موظفين وموظفات من بلديتي السلط والكرك الكبرى، يمتد من يوم إلى خمسة أيام حول المواضيع الموضّحة أدناه.

هيئة أجيال السلام مؤسسة غير ربحية عالمية تسعى إلى ترسيخ ثقافة السلام في العالم، أسسها سمو الأمير فيصل بن الحسين في العام 2007. وتُعنى أجيال السلام بتحويل النزاعات وبناء السلام المستدام على مستوى القاعدة الشعبية، إذ تولي اهتمامًا كبيرًا بتمكين المتطوعين من القادة الشباب لنشر ثقافة التسامح في مجتمعاتهم، وتعزيز مفهوم المواطنة المسؤولة في المجتمعات التي تعاني من النزاعات والعنف بأشكاله وصوره المتعددة. وتعتمد برامج وأنشطة أجيال السلام المصممة بعناية، على الرياضة والفن وكسب التأييد والحوار والتمكين والإعلام، وتوفّر مساحات آمنة لإشراك الأطفال والشباب والبالغين، كما أنها تمثل وسيلة للتعليم المتكامل والتغيير السلوكي المستدام.

عن برنامج ثقة:

في كانون الثاني 2024، أطلقت هيئة أجيال السلام برنامج “ثقة” بالتعاون مع بلديتي السلط الكبرى والكرك الكبرى، وبدعم من منظمة بورتيكاس في هولندا. ويهدف البرنامج المستمر لسبعة أشهر إلى تعزيز المشاركة المدنية للشباب من خلال بناء القدرات وتسهيل الحوار التحويلي بين المسؤولين من البلديتين والقادة الشباب المقيمين في المحافظات المعنية. وكجزء من البرنامج، أجرت هيئة أجيال السلام تحليلاً لمحتوى البلديات عبر صفحة فيسبوك، وتحديد فجوات التعلم والمجالات التي يمكن تطويرها لدى طاقم البلديات لتكون استراتيجياتهم في التواصل أكثر قربًا من الشباب، وسيتم عقد ورشة عمل تدريبية في شهر نيسان لدعم مهارات موظفي البلديات المعنيين بالإعلام والاتصال في الجوانب المطلوب تطويرها.

المواضيع التي ستتم تغطيتها في التدريب:

سيكون على الخبراء تحضير مادة تدريبية باللغة العربية تغطّي المواضيع التالية:

Introduction to Strategic Communications:  What is strategic communications, why it is important, and how to develop it (defining objectives, key messages, audiences, channels, timely dissemination, using the right tools, best practices with examples and exercises).

Principles of building trust through communication,  theoretical discussion: What are the characteristics of communication to build trust? Practical implications, main findings from content analysis, discussion of implications.

Impactful communications strategies:  The basics (humanizing stories, multimedia storytelling, prioritizing and choosing the “best topics to share” – quantity vs quality).

Communication in times of crises : principles and best practices.

Create and maintain a positive online brand and presence : types of content, best apps, free tools to use, images, design, and wording of post descriptions.

Optimize audience reach : Tools to monitor reach and engagement: AB testing, web analytics, audience feedback analysis, and setting SMART goals for communications strategy.

Ethical considerations in communications:  verifying the reliability of information and sources, the ethics of visual elements (images), and gender-sensitive communications.

What is expected from the training?

  • Participants understand the importance of strategic communications in the government context.
  • Participants learn strategic planning for communications to build trust with the public in the long term.
  • Participants will develop their practical skills in the field of practicing and applying digital communications.
  • Participants learn how to apply information verification techniques, inclusivity and ethical considerations in communications.

Experience and requirements:

  1. At least four years of experience in developing training materials and providing training in the specified topics/or parts thereof.
  2. Proven work and practice experience in the areas identified above/or parts thereof. Experience in NGO trainings and public sector employee training is an added advantage.
  3. Excellent technical capabilities to prepare the presentation digitally and deliver training sessions in Arabic.
