The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of two years. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
As Logistics Coordinator you are responsible for further professionalising the logistics team and logistics systems in Welthungerhilfe’s country programme in Burkina Faso. In your role you will facilitate the implementation of our programmes with high quality and in a timely fashion.
Your responsibilities
- Development and implementation of all required logistics systems and procedures including fleet and transport management, energy management, warehouse management, and communications
- Ensure overall procurement and supply chains, adherence and compliance of procurement procedures
- Engage in Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning and provide logistics support to Emergency Responses
- Actively engage in the Logistics Cluster and other logistics coordination meetings
- Review organisational set-up of current logistics departments and functions including capital and field responsibilities and propose restructuring if and when required
- Assess knowledge and capacity of all logistics’ staff at both capital and field level and take the lead in capacity buidling, training and coaching on all relevant logistics matters
- Budget for and implement all physical implications of the Security Standard Operating Procedures (e.g. vehicle equipment, communication equipment, compound, building security measures)
Your profile
- A university or polytechnic degree in Logistics or a similar field
- 3-5 years demonstrated work experience in humanitarian logistics of which at least 2 years as logistics coordinator
- Demonstrated professional experience in a leading position in procument/supplies, distributions and transport management
- Good communication, teambuilding, and networking skills
- Experience with major humanitarian donors
- Excellent spoken and written English and French
