About the Program

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is a signature initiative of the Australian government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting undergraduates to study and undertake internships in the region, ultimately helping to strengthen Australia’s regional standing by building a diverse cohort of Australian alumni with deeper Indo-Pacific knowledge, capability, and connections. The NCP Progra m involves three program areas: Scholarships for students to undertake study, language training and internships in the region, mobility grants to universities to fund student participation in shorter projects in the region and an Alumni Program.

Palladium is the service provider appointed by DFAT to provide managed administrative and support services (MASS) to the NCP Program. The Palladium MASS team provides an integrated suite of services to enable the NCP operational delivery including providing administration services to the Scholarships, Mobility and Alumni Programs, and delivering cross – cutting functions such as financial management. communications and marketing, monitoring and evaluation, events management and risk management.

Role

This role reports to the Manager Engagement Communications and Events and is full-time, fixed term contract until 30 June 2025. The role also works closely with the NCP MASS management team, p roviding communications and engagement support to the Scholarships, Mobility and Alumni program areas.

Location:

Preference for this role is to be based in Adelaide but Brisbane and Canberra will be considered.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Effective coordination of the NCP social media channels to drive brand awareness and engagement.

  • Manage the NCP social media channels, including coordination of an annual content calendar, in accordance with established brand guidelines.
  • Source, develop and deliver regular social media content for publishing on NCP channels with a focus on user-generated content.
  • Develop and implement innovative social media campaigns to drive brand awareness and engagement.
  • Undertake social media monitoring, administration, reporting and analysis activities.

Effective coordination of digital communications and campaigns.

  • Coordinate a suite email direct marketing communications that ensure NCP participants get timely, relevant, and engaging communications at every stage of their NCP journey from application to alumni.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of professional promotional and communications campaigns for key Program activities and events.
  • Develop and deliver a range of communications products and digital resources, including booklets, videos, photos, reporting templates and other graphic design.
  • Contribute to the development of a range of editorial and social media content, including news stories, social media posts and videos, and harnessing user-generated content.
  • Report on the success of communications, campaigns and events.

Efficient support for stakeholder communications and engagement activities and events

  • Contribute to activities and communications that foster the NCP alumni’s online community.
  • Support activities and events across the NCP Program, including alumni networking and professional development events, scholar training, and stakeholder outreach and engagement.
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement and liaison activities and events including government, business and university representatives.

Efficient administration support for the Program

  • Review and update Program materials (including documentation, templates, or resources) as directed by the Program Managers.
  • Provide support in auditing Program databases and records. Maintain company records in line with document control and records management procedures.

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent experience in communications, marketing, digital media, or a related discipline. Proven experience in coordinating and delivering successful digital communications and marketing (traditional and social) campaigns.
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative suite for producing basic creative content and marketing collateral.
  • Experience working with web content management systems, online platforms, and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a varied workload and produce materials within deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication, and ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders to achieve high-quality communications and promotional outcomes.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and ability to work within and apply communications and branding guidelines and policies appropriately, including implementing and adapting to policy changes.
  • Fluency in written English.

Desired

  • Experience working in communications in a program/project context for government or in higher education sectors, particularly if related to international development, outward student mobility or scholarships and awards programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the tertiary student market especially undergraduates and associated digital communications strategies and tactics using a range of social media platforms.
