Program Coordinator for Civil-Military Coordination Service At Watson Institute for International Studies

The Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies (CHRHS) at Brown University is excited to announce the recruitment of a Program Coordinator for its newly funded Program in Civil-Military Humanitarian Coordination.

CHRHS is a leading center of scholarship and policy guidance with regards to humanitarian military relations. In recent years it has led a UNOCHA commissioned review of its Civil-Military Coordination Service (CMCS); convened the first ever Research Symposium on Civilian-Military Humanitarian Coordination; and conducted multiple government and foundation-funded research studies examining global challenges in humanitarian military relations. In collaboration with the Humanitarian Response Program at the US Naval War College, CHRHS also leads an annual Civilian-Military Humanitarian Response Workshop that attracts more than 100 military, humanitarian, and academic thought leaders each year from around the world.

The Program Coordinator for the new Program in Civil-Military Humanitarian Coordination will manage and expand our research portfolio by leveraging ongoing partnerships and research outputs to apply for new grants and contracts, while also expanding our global network of humanitarian, military, and academic partners to maximize the reach of our educational and policy endeavors. The Program Coordinator will support CHRHS research related to humanitarian military relations; contribute to and lead original research and policy projects; support faculty at both Brown University and the US Naval War College in the development of new courses, curricula, training programs, and simulations in humanitarian military relations; organize the annual Research Symposium and Workshop on Civilian Military Humanitarian Response; serve as a mentor for undergraduate and graduate students at Brown University; and oversee a dedicated undergraduate student intern to assist with programing and research.
