Programme Manager Chain of Custody At Development Aid

Job Title: Programme Manager Chain of Custody
Location: Bonn, Germany
Contract duration: 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week.

DRS is looking, on behalf of our client, an INGO, for a Programme Manager Chain of Custody to lead the development, maintenance, and consistent implementation of the INGOs normative framework in the Chain of Custody (CoC) in line with the applicable INGO rules and procedures and coordinate effectively with PSU programmes and other units.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Exercise state-of-the-art leadership in the spirit of the INGO Leadership Principles and enable team members to deliver a high level of performance by providing them with appropriate structure, direction, and regular feedback.
  • Plan, initiate, coordinate, oversee, and steer as necessary – based on applicable INGO rules and procedures — processes for the development, maintenance, review, revision, and interpretation of:
  • normative documents for certification and accreditation in the Chain of Custody,
  • related communication, guidance, and training materials for users (certificate holders and certification bodies) and relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Senior Expert CoC in:
  • Streamlining the relevant normative documents and requirements through means of simplification, outcome orientation, and integration of risk-based approaches,
  • Identifying and evaluating innovative approaches for their potential of being adopted in the CoC normative framework through testing, desk reviews, and external studies,
  • Ensuring a high level of technical quality of normative documents and other publications.
  • Collaborate with PSU Engagement in the development and implementation of engagement plans for major processes.
  • Identify the need for and ensure the implementation of timely and adequate interventions to prevent delays and standstills in ongoing processes.
  • Coordinate and oversee the support for implementing relevant requirements by certificate holders and certification bodies.
  • Establish and implement effective, outcome-oriented work plans based on considerate annual budgets and in accordance with organizational strategies and priorities.
  • Adhere to PSU operational procedures and follow established practices, such as agile work planning and reporting on office presence.
  • Support fundraising and reporting to donors as applicable.
  • Perform additional project work and additional tasks as assigned for special business needs and agreed with the formal supervisor.

Qualification, Experience, and Skills:
Education and Training:

  • University / technical college degree in forestry/wood technology or other relevant areas or equivalent experience, knowledge, and skills.

Working Experience, Style, and Skills:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following: forestry sector, multi-stakeholder standards development processes, certification, corporate environmental responsibility programs.
  • Excellent, documented project management skills (Agile project management experience is a plus).
  • Experience with multi-stakeholder engagements and multi-stakeholder communication processes.
  • Experience with financial administration/management.
  • Ability to perform well while handling several functions simultaneously.
  • Solutions and service-oriented attitude to work.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize work.
  • A very strong sense for diligence and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive discussions

Leadership

  • At least 3 years of experience in managing the leading staff.

Languages and Communication Skills:

  • Fluency in English.
  • Spanish & French are desired.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics to non-knowledgeable audiences and contribution to cohesive team efforts and decision-making.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive discussions

Computer Skills:

  • Good computer skills, including the use of standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database management platforms.

Terms and Conditions

  • Location: Bonn, Germany
  • Working Hours: Full time – 40 hours per week.
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract – 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance)
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
