Public relations professional (f/m/x) specialising in migrants in El Salvador At Dienste in Übersee

Background

The work of Grupo de Monitoreo Independiente de El Salvador (GMIES) centres on the issue of migration and internal displacement. An important part of this work is the promotion of labour rights and decent working conditions, particularly for marginalised population groups. GMIES cooperates with state and civil society actors at national and international level. GMIES is a member of the Red Regional de Organizaciones Civiles para las Migraciones (RROCM) network and a number of networks based in the USA.

The organisation is based in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Job Scope

You will support GMIES in raising the profile of the issue of migration and human dignity at national, regional and international levels, fostering alliance building with media in both North America and Europe.

In particular, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Based on an analysis of GMIES’ communication system (e.g. the social media networks, website, alliances with other actors), you will support the organisation in the participatory creation of a communication strategy including the implementation of concrete actions
  • You will integrate a monitoring and evaluation system into the development of this communication strategy.
  • You will train GMIES staff in the implementation of the strategy, in particular for communication with international organisations
  • You will advise GMIES on establishing contacts with various media (radio, print) as well as on the creation of target group-specific content (e.g. multimedia content such as podcasts, videos)

Profile

You are an internationally experienced communications professional:

  • You have a degree (at least BA) in a relevant subject (e.g. communication, journalism, media studies) with further training on the topic of migration and displacement
  • Several years of experience in communication and public relations work, preferably in the NGO sector
  • Your knowledge and experience in facilitating participatory processes including workshop design in an intercultural context
  • Your confident use of blog / CMS software (e.g. WordPress) as well as graphics and layout software (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Your very good oral and written communication skills in Spanish
