About the role

This is an exciting new role in myAgro that will create a regional strategy for learning and development (L&D). Under the general guidance of the Regional Director of Sales Operations, the Regional L&D Manager (Sales) will be responsible for the planning, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of L&D activities targeting myAgro’s sales team – a diverse team of office and field based sales managers, supervisors, and agents, as well as our network of over 2000 Village Entrepreneurs (VEs) across Mali and Senegal.

You will work closely with the Senior Management, Field Leadership as well as other relevant stakeholders, to conduct needs assessments and prepare L&D strategies/plans to meet the sales teams’ current and evolving programmatic/operational needs.

While this role is part of the Sales team, it doesn’t require you to be a Sales Expert. We have sales experts on the team and within our network that you will work closely with on a regular basis. The magic ingredient of this role is that you are an expert in adult learning principles, learning and development trends (especially blended learning), and instructional design standards and methodologies – this in multicultural and multilingual contexts. A passion for learning about sales and sales management will get the job done.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Learning and Capacity Development:

  • Conduct learning needs assessments and prepare L&D strategies/plans in line with the sales team’s key strategic priorities to meet current and evolving programmatic/operational needs;
  • Design and implement state-of-the-art L&D activities, including innovative approaches to L&D; and share best practices on evolving trends on L&D;
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate the delivery of training, as appropriate, making the best use of evolving tools and technologies; and train others to deliver training as and when needed;
  • Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of learning/training activities to ensure compliance with desired quality standards; that they contribute to meeting desired outcomes, returns on investments, and that lessons learned/best practices are reflected in the development of new strategies and plans;
  • Report proactively on the effectiveness of L&D interventions and adjust the strategy based on the realities on the ground and changes in the external environment and overall organizational strategy.
  • Draft internal guidance documents and standard operating procedures for the efficient, effective, consistent and fair administration of learning and development activities;
  • Advise managers and staff members on the effective application of learning policies/guidelines, and the use of various learning pedagogies, methodologies and tools to achieve desired organizational/individual needs;
  • Lead the strategy development, design, implementation, and administration of myAgro’s first learning management system (LMS).

Team Management

  • Manage two training associates (based in Mali and Senegal as part of sales unit);
  • Establish clear individual performance objectives, goals and timelines; and provide timely guidance to enable your team to perform their duties responsibly and efficiently.

Data Analytics:

  • Compile, interpret, and analyze data/reports to help inform decision making on L&D strategies;
  • Develop data collection systems to optimize the quality of metrics, analytics, and reports.

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements

Education:

  • An Advanced University Degree in human resource management, business administration, organizational development, social sciences, international relations, psychology or another related field is required;
  • Additional professional certification/training in the field of learning and development or related fields is desirable.

Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of professional work experience in L&D in a global/international organization is required;
  • Strong facilitation skills and track records in learning needs assessment and in the design and implementation of L&D strategies, including learning impact assessment is required;
  • Good understanding of how adults acquire and use knowledge, including individual and cultural differences in learning; and the ability to develop effective training/learning curricula (including e-learning) for adult learners is required;
  • Prior experience in eLearning design software and/or Learning Management System strategy, implementation, and administration is an asset;
  • Prior experience in the design and implementation of L&D strategies for teams in the sales sector is an asset.

Others:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel between Mali and Senegal occasionally as needed
  • Fluent in French and English
