The Social Business Unit (SBU) is the business arm of PSI that focuses on balancing commercial viability and social impact to deliver consumer-powered healthcare at scale through social enterprise entities in markets around the globe – including India, Southern Africa, Angola, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Paraguay, and Central America. The SBU vision is to design consumer-centric social enterprises that use a combination of digital and offline healthcare solutions to support consumers’ self-care journey, and give them choice, voice and agency in their health and well-being.

PSI’s Social Business Unit has unique requirements compared to PSI’s not for profit activities, and this position is intended to act as a bridge between the accounting needs of the SBU and the rest of PSI. By ensuring accurate recording and reporting of global and country level SBU transactions and identifying areas for improvement, this position will drive accurate, timely reporting of financial performance. In addition to working with the country office teams, you will work with members of the Global Finance team, including the Controller’s team, Regional Finance Operations and Budget and Insurance team. This position will be expected to implement and coordinate financial integration activities with respect to monthly consolidation, intercompany transactions, and policy alignment among existing PSI SBU teams and processes with local GAAP, PSI Global and US GAAP requirements. This person would also be responsible for the accurate accounting for PSI SBU’s strategic investments, including assisting with determining the appropriate accounting treatment of new business initiatives and models e.g., new partnerships, distribution agreements and new markets, in alignment with US GAAP and local statutory requirements. This person will ideally have relevant experience with various areas of accounting including business combinations, intercompany, revenue recognition, consolidation, foreign currency, valuation concepts, and be familiar with different financing methods.

PSI seeks a Senior Accountant, Social Business Unit that will Play a key role in PSI’s financial success. Work across several functional areas of financial operations. Work on a team within our DC headquarters and liaise with finance teams in over 14 field offices worldwide to maintain the general ledger and perform month end close and support audits.

Responsibilities

Your contributions

-Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts – 30% of Time

o Including but not limited to: inventory accounting, accounts receivable recording and management, identification of appropriate reserves, identification of stock obsolescence risk, intercompany accounting, and invoicing

-Prepare journal entries to record inventory movements, fixed asset acquisitions and disposals – 20% of Time

o Including but not limited to: accounts receivable recording, accounts receivable reserves, obsolete stock, and intercompany transactions accounting and invoicing

-Analyze general ledger account balances and transactions – 10% of Time

-Support internal customers at HQ and in field offices worldwide – 10% of Time

-Support high complexity audit samples by explaining documentation to auditors – 20% of Time

-Perform other duties and special projects as assigned – 10% of Time

o Identify and propose changes to PSI’s Global Controller and Vice President SBU in PSI Global accounting policies and/or local accounting policies to reflect the needs of the SBU in line with GAAP and local statutory reporting requirements.

o Work in coordination with PSI’s Global Finance, Regional Finance Officers and SBU to communicate changes, provide training and ongoing support to countries to help ensure that their accounting structure is aligned to SBU, local and Global reporting requirements.

o Implement compliance activities and contribute to special projects that strengthen controls, leverage technology, result in operational efficiencies and help drive results.

What are we looking for?

– Bachelor’s Degree (or international equivalent) in Accounting or related field – Master’s Degree (or international equivalent), CPA or equivalent preferred – At least 7 years of related experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted. – At least 1 year of Public Accounting in an audit firm (as part of the overall 7 years of experience) preferred. – Expert Excel experience required: pivot tables, vlookups, and sumifs formulas. – Familiarity with ERPs. – Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to translate and communicate complex accounting and financial information to employees with varying levels of financial knowledge. – Familiarity with USG rules and regulations preferred.

– Experience with standard end-to-end financial processes such as forecast, close, analysis, and reporting.
