Senior Coordinator, Climate Change, Asia (Homebased in Asia) At Save the Children

The Opportunity

Asia-Pacific is the most vulnerable region in the world, in terms of disasters, which will be worsened by climate crisis, thus continuously posing hazards to children, particularly those who are most deprived and marginalised. Save the Children is in a strategic position to work with and for children to ensure climate action is embedded in our programs as well as our partners’ programs, offering a distinct value proposition in Asia-Pacific.

We are looking for an experienced regional senior coordinator, with a commitment to children’s rights who is able to think strategically about Save the Children’s potential to contribute in a significant way to this global crisis. A strong commitment to evidence and impact is essential to help the organisation identify the right opportunities building on existing work and supporting member countries in the region like Save the Children, Korea to build a strong climate change portfolio. She/he will support the Regional Senior Technical Advisor, Climate Change and Child Poverty Focal Point, Asia-Pacific scale climate change programming in Asia-Pacific with particular focus on working closely with Save the Children, Korea.

She/he will use in-depth coordination skills to strengthen our technical offer to Save the Children, Korea and other country offices in the region. The role supports coordinating roll-out of partnerships and new business development opportunities driven by Save the Children, Korea and Save the Children, Asia-Regional Office (ARO).

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of the Regional Senior Technical Advisor Climate Change and Child Poverty Focal Point, Asia-Pacific:

Business Development

  • Coordinate with Save the Children, Korea and Save the Children, ARO and selected Save the Children country offices in Asia-Pacific to develop concept notes and proposals for GCF-financed project(s) and other climate change mitigation and adaptation pilot projects financed/led by Save the Children, Korea.
  • Support Save the Children, Korea, Save the Children, ARO and selected Save the Children country offices in Asia-Pacific explore new funding opportunities on climate change and environmental protection from private and institutional donors.

Advocacy

  • Support Save the Children, Korea to – through evidence-based advocacy – increase its visibility and presence on climate change and environment interventions across Asia-Pacific and globally.

Implementation and Monitoring Support

  • Coordinate with Save the Children, Korea and Save the Children, ARO and Save the Children country offices in Asia-Pacific to implement and monitor projects/programs on climate change and environmental protection.

Networking and Partnership Development

  • Support Save the Children, Korea and Save the Children, ARO liaise with climate change/environment networks in Asia-Pacific and cultivate contacts and link them with relevant authorities, countries and members for joint climate change mitigation and adaptation actions and programming.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Asia Regional Director for Program Quality Evidence and Impact on departmental priorities, such as compiling departmental data and providing support to meetings and events.
  • Perform other and relevant responsibilities assigned by Save the Children, Korea and Save the Children, ARO.
