Sprout Digital Content Consultant at Mercy Corps

Mercy Corps is looking for The Consultant will work closely with the AgriFin Program, staff, and other relevant field teams to support program engagements, partnerships follow-ups (onboarding to implementation), and provide inputs and support to the Sprout, The Open Content Agriculture Platform.

The Scope of Work

The Sprout Digital Content Consultant will lead content development and implementation with the support of Mercy Corps AgriFin (MCAF) team leads and partners as part of the second phase of the Sprout Platform Project. Under the direction of the Global Climate Technology Lead, the consultant will engage in the following key activities**:**

● Support implementation of short/long-term strategy and plan of Sprout Platform Strategy and Road Map
● Support in the identification and integration of potential content service providers into the Sprout Platform Marketplace.
● Research, gather, organize, and write/edit information for publication of learning journeys in SMS, Wa4B/Chatbots and .xls/.cvs
● Work with MCAF Agriculture, Financial Services Climate team leads and MCAF partners to identify, acquire and edit high priority content
● Assist in the development of partner work plans, with regards to Sprout Platform, reviewing research, marketing plans, business processes, operational manuals, product, and technology specifications.
● Support MCAF Content Distribution partners for acquisition, review, adaptation, implementation, and testing of content with farmers.
● Monitor Sprout Platform Partner progress, issues identification, reporting and resolution, or assist in resolving issues, under the direction of Sprout Platform Team;
● Translate English content into Kiswahili. Lead review process of translations.
● Implement content into the content database, WhatsApp for Business (Wa4B), and underlying chatbots as required.
● Work with other Marcy Corps partners — providing content framing and look and feel (as needed)
● Support MCAF Content Distribution partners for acquisition, review, adaptation, implementation, and testing of content with farmers.
● Identify new content providers and content streams to integrate into the Sprout Platform
● Integrate additional farmer friendly content journeys into the Sprout Platform
● Support in the Phase 2 planning for the Sprout Platform

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science, Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, or similar
  • Minimum three years experience in design and development of content for social media and or behavior change for low-income, non-digitally savvy users for use on a range of platforms including SMS (required); WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, etc. (required); Posters; Radio; and Training
  • Experience in designing, managing, monitoring, and measuring the effectiveness of digital communications channels
  • Previous experience implementing and administering open data portals is highly preferred
  • Experience working with CKAN/DKAN, and WordPress highly preferred
  • Experience in managing and administrating digital platforms (SMS, social media, etc.)
  • Pedagogical experience in developing user journeys for digital services to drive behavior change
  • Agriculture/agronomy science and field-level experience (preferred, not required)
