Background
SLM is preparing a proposal in response to The Global Fund’s Request for Proposals for LFA services in Myanmar. This role entails independent verification of grant performance, financial management, and health product supply chains under challenging conditions, including post-disaster recovery and systemic disruptions.
Position Summary
The Laboratory Expert is a senior-level, on-call specialist who provides ad-hoc technical expertise on laboratory services and the management of diagnostic products. This role supports the LFA team with targeted reviews to ensure that laboratory operations funded by the grant are effective, efficient, and adhere to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- On an ad-hoc basis, conduct reviews and spot checks on laboratory operations and lab product management.
- Assess the quantification, procurement, and supply chain for diagnostic products and technologies used in TB, HIV, and malaria programs.
- Analyze the use and functionality of diagnostic platforms (e.g., GeneXpert) in the country context.
- Provide relevant and practical recommendations to the Global Fund to strengthen grant implementation related to laboratory services.
- Provide remote support and guidance to the LFA team, with occasional travel to the country if and when needed.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- An advanced degree in Laboratory Sciences, Microbiology, or a related technical field.
- Senior-level experience with at least 8-10 years of solid knowledge of laboratory services for TB, HIV, and malaria programs in resource-limited settings.
- Solid knowledge of the diagnostic platforms and technologies used under Global Fund-supported programs.
- Experience in the management, procurement, and quality assurance of diagnostic products.
- Prior experience with the Global Fund is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Regional or in-country presence is not required; this role can be performed remotely with occasional travel.
