BACKGROUND
AFDC Global is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Learning & Coordination Intern to support a set of focused organizational activities over a 3-month period. This is a learning-centered internship designed for early-career development professionals who wish to gain hands-on exposure to NGO coordination, roster management, and workshop facilitation support — with a commitment of approximately 2 hours per day.
The intern will work closely with AFDC Global’s director and team to support three core organizational workstreams currently active on ReliefWeb.
SCOPE OF WORK
The intern will support and learn through active engagement in the following activities:
1. Global Consultant Roster — Expressions of Interest (EOI) Coordination
Support the management of incoming EOIs for AFDC Global’s Global Consultant Roster (as advertised on ReliefWeb). This includes tracking applications, organizing profiles by thematic area, drafting acknowledgement communications, and maintaining a roster database. The intern will gain exposure to recruitment workflows in international development consulting.
2. Virtual MEAL Workshop — Coordination & Learning Support
Support the coordination of AFDC Global’s free 3-hour virtual workshop on Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) for young NGO professionals with 0–5 years of experience. Tasks include participant registration management, pre- and post-workshop communications, preparation of learning materials, and documentation of outcomes.
3. Virtual Project Management Workshop — Coordination & Learning Support
Support the coordination of the companion free 3-hour virtual workshop on Project Management for young NGO development professionals. Similar to the MEAL workshop, the intern will assist with logistics, participant engagement, material preparation, and session documentation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the internship, the intern will be able to:
- Manage a simple consultant roster using a spreadsheet-based tracking system
- Coordinate virtual training events from registration to post-event reporting
- Draft professional communications to participants, consultants, and stakeholders
- Apply basic MEAL and project management concepts in a real organizational context
- Understand how development organisations use different platform for outreach and recruitment
TIME COMMITMENT
- 2 hours per day, Monday through Friday
- Total estimated commitment: ~120–130 hours over 3 months
- Fully remote; flexible scheduling within agreed working hours
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in international development, public health, social sciences, public policy, or a related field or looking to start their career in International development, NGO
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Basic proficiency in Google Workspace or MS Office (Docs, Sheets, Gmail)/ experience of managing virtual workshops
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting
Preferred:
- Familiarity with development sector platforms
- Prior exposure to MEAL concepts or project management frameworks (no advanced expertise required)
- Interest in NGO capacity building, consulting, or development coordination
