Background
SoCha is currently bidding to the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) to deliver the Verification and Technical Assurance Programme-Ukraine (VERITAS-UKR). This flagship programme will provide demand-led independent third-party monitoring (TPM) and portfolio-level evidence services across FCDO’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) portfolio in Ukraine. The programme will also pilot an innovative Civil Society Organization (CSO)-led monitoring model, designed to strengthen accountability and ensure aid is responsive to the needs of Ukrainians.
As part of our proposed core team, SoCha is recruiting a Logistics and GIS Specialist who will be based in Ukraine and oversee logistics, and GIS arrangements for the VERITAS-UKR programme.
This position is contingent on contract award and is expected to commence on or around 30 November 2025.
Responsibilities
Logistics:
- Ensure effective operations by coordinating with drivers, venues, suppliers, activity-specific logisticians, etc.
- Coordinate and ensure the provision of administrative support for all project
- activities.
- Maintain and update the project calendar of activities.
- Mobilize personnel and consultants by arranging travel and accommodation.
- Support the FAM to manage the office’s ongoing services and costs (e.g., rent, utilities, supplies, maintenance, telephone).
- Ensure all required approvals are received from government departments in order for the project to meet its deliverable requirements.
GIS (Geographic Information System):
- Developing a full suite of geospatial data analysis and visualization services
- Mission, design and build systems to store and manage geographic information, ensuring data accuracy, implementing quality control procedures, and keeping databases up-to-date.
- Producing products including maps, visual learning products, and other geospatial infographics;
- Providing GIS services including geospatial capacity strengthening, spatial analysis, and GIS data dissemination;
- Integrating activity location data with performance and contextual data;
- Training stakeholders on GIS data collection; enabling the programme to plan site visits more effectively.
- Ensure all data management requirements of the project are met.
- Working closely with staff in the program, technical, and front offices to understand their data needs and developing solutions that keep them informed of key trends.
- Complying with contractual data reporting requirements.
- Developing infographics for senior decisions makers that summarize complex data in creative and insightful ways.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of work experience relevant in GIS
- 5 + years overseeing logistics, preferably including non-permissive environments.
- Experience in collecting geolocation data;
- Experience in the management of geographic data
- Experience integrating layered data onto maps
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and follow through on multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Proven capacity to take initiative and willingness to learn new skills as needed.
- Strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in spatial analysis highly desired but not required.
