Are you passionate about data integrity and eager to make an impact behind the scenes? The Controller and Management Services Division is looking for a meticulous and motivated Master Data Assistant to join our Data Stewardship and Privacy Management Unit.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the direct supervision of the Master Data Manager, the Master Data Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
1) Perform initial data validations of supplier (e.g. vendor, travelers, staff, etc.) master data for completeness, accuracy, and formatting according to established templates and governance rules.
a. Verifying requests would result in duplicate supplier records
b. Perform logic checks on bank information
c. Reviewing third-party authorizations
d. Review the supplier against relevant sanctions listings
e. Staff member banking records related to non-salary payments
f. Addressing payment rejection, liaising with relevant stakeholders to correct banking records.
2) Act as back-up approver for vendor creation requests when required (e.g. Master Data Manager makes corrections or is on leave)
3) Execute routine data health checks and flag discrepancies or duplicates for manager review.
4) Reconcile mismatches by researching source documents, liaising with functional teams, and updating records.
5) Generate and distribute regular master data status and exception reports to stakeholders.
6) Serve as first-level support for internal users’ data-related inquiries, logging and tracking tickets, escalating complex issues.
7) Assist in data cleanup and migration activities during system upgrades, module roll-outs, or integration projects.
8) Support the documentation of operational procedures and contribute to process improvement suggestions aimed at reducing errors and manual steps.
9) Help prepare training materials and deliver basic orienting sessions for new data stewards or end-users on standard data-entry practices.
10) Support audit preparations by compiling data-quality evidence and participating in sample checks as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of experience working with or supporting an ERP system, with at least 2 of those in finance, procurement or other administrative area working with master data is required.
Other requirements
– Experience with developing and delivering training to staff members at various levels across an organization.
– Proven track record of collaboration and teamwork with cross-functional teams.
– A relevant certification (e.g. DAMA Certification, Oracle Cloud ERP Implementation Specialist, SAP Certified Application Associated, etc.) with a focus on data governance would be an advantage.
– This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to Appendix B.2 of WMO Staff Regulations and Rules. It is open to Swiss citizens, citizens of the European Union (EU) member states or holders of residence and a valid permit to reside and work in Geneva, without restrictions, is required.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
