Mari Research and Development (MRD) is a licensed non-profit organization working across northern Syria and Damascus in the fields of peacebuilding, civil dialogue, livelihoods, capacity building, and civil society incubation. MRD is launching a comprehensive capacity-building program for emerging Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and grassroots initiatives in Damascus.

Job Purpose:

The MEAL Assistant supports the planning and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities within projects. This includes assisting in preparing monthly plans, supporting the design of data collection tools, participating in data collection, contributing to report preparation, and coordinating activities with the MEAL team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning: Assist in preparing monthly plans, support the scheduling of field visits in line with the overall MEAL plan, and help in setting up verification plans as required by the project.
  • Data Collection: Support in designing and developing data collection tools (such as surveys, interviews, and checklists) and participate in collecting data from project stakeholders using these tools.
  • Data Management: Assist in processing, cleaning, and organizing collected data, as well as contributing to basic analysis and visualization.
  • Reporting: Support in preparing MEAL reports for projects and contribute to needs assessment reports when required.
  • Coordination and Follow-up: Coordinate closely with MEAL Officers, other MEAL Assistants, and data collectors to ensure smooth implementation of daily activities and adherence to timelines.
  • Internal and External Coordination: Participate in meetings with project teams and, when needed, with stakeholders and partners

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in project support, monitoring, evaluation, or data collection.
  • Good command of English and familiarity with MEAL reporting.
