Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), one of the world’s largest medical emergency relief organizations, operates wherever human lives are threatened. Armed conflicts, epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare are among the reasons for our missions.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical aid organization founded in 1971 by doctors and journalists. Whether it’s war-wounded people in the Gaza Strip, displaced persons in Sudan, or tuberculosis patients in Southeast Asia: MSF provides assistance in over 70 countries, primarily in places where people in need lack access to adequate healthcare or are denied such access.
Today, MSF is a global movement comprised of 26 national sections and several operations centers – including MSF Switzerland – which ensure the direct management of projects. In 2026, MSF Switzerland employed approximately 400 people in Zurich and Geneva.
The internship offers insight into the media work of an international aid organization. The intern will learn the principle of “testimony.” MSF always sees itself as a witness in crisis areas where our teams provide assistance, and it is an important part of our work to draw attention to conflicts and crises that occur away from the world’s attention.
Tasks
- Handling media inquiries (online media, daily newspapers, magazines, trade press, TV and radio).
- Support in organizing press briefings for UN correspondents in Geneva.
- Coordination of interviews with MSF experts and project staff.
- Research and preparation of content for media offerings.
- Production of weekly reports on MSF’s media presence in Switzerland.
Profile
- Good knowledge of the Swiss media landscape
- Editorial skills and journalistic instinct
- Organizational talent, goal-oriented and efficient work style
- Interest in humanitarian issues
Languages
- Excellent German skills (spoken and written)
- Good knowledge of French and English
Working conditions
- Internship duration: 9 months
- Scope: 100% workload
- Work location: Geneva (with tripartite agreement) or Zurich (possibility of 1-2 days working from home per week)
- Start date: January 2027
- Salary: Gross CHF 2,000 per month
