What are we doing…?

Duration: 1 year

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflict and natural disasters by addressing their vital needs: water, food, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death worldwide, SI implements its interventions with expertise in the areas of access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, as well as in the essential areas of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams—a total of 3,200 people including expatriates, national staff, headquarters staff, and a few volunteers—operate with professionalism and dedication, respecting local cultures.

The mission

Since March 2020, SI has been working in France to address the challenges of water, hygiene, and sanitation insecurity in five regions. In partnership with metropolitan water and sanitation operators and their foundations, its projects target populations living in substandard housing, such as slums or squats, who have limited access to basic services, including drinking water, sanitation, and essential hygiene products. SI’s strategy is to support local stakeholders in their search for concrete solutions by improving sanitary conditions in these areas, notably through the installation of drinking water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, and the development of pilot projects tailored to the specific context of each intervention zone.
