SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for more than 40 years, has been providing relief to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: food, water, and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions its expertise in the fields of access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams – 3,200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

The mission

Since March 2020, SI has been working in France to address the challenges of water, hygiene, and sanitation insecurity in five French territories. In partnership with metropolitan water and sanitation operators and their foundations, its projects target populations living in degraded sites such as shantytowns or squats, particularly those with limited access to basic services, such as drinking water, sanitation, and access to essential hygiene products. SI’s strategy consists of supporting local stakeholders in their search for concrete solutions, by proposing to improve the sanitary conditions of the sites, in particular through the installation of drinking water supplies, sanitation infrastructure, and the development of pilot projects adapted to the context of each intervention area.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager (RP EHA), the water production agent is responsible for implementing the activities of production and distribution of treated water in the targeted districts of Mayotte through the use of an ultrafiltration treatment unit.

MAIN CHALLENGES:

Taking charge of an ultrafiltration water production unit, permanent travel between treatment and distribution locations, good skills in various technical interventions desired, listening to the people benefiting from IS activities and ability to work in precarious housing areas.

SIZING THE BASIC TEAM / COORDINATION:

The Mayotte base is made up of 1 CT/ 1 log-Admin/ 1 log purchase/ 2 RPEHA/ 3 Sensitivity Agents/ 1 RCO / 2 work-study students

The coordination office (Marseille) is made up of the Country Director, the Support Coordinator, a communications and reporting manager, the EHA representative, the community mobilization representative, the legal representative and the palidoyer representative.

DIPLOMA AND EXPERIENCE:

No diploma required
0 to 2 years of experience in an equivalent position

COMPETENCES:

Technical skills:

Proficiency in plumbing and network maintenance operations on equipment.
Mastery of the fundamental principles of water chemistry and quality control.
Ability to perform basic mechanical operations.
Ability to apply safety procedures and risk prevention related to the maintenance and operation of equipment.

Cross-disciplinary skills:

Driving license B required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to apply basic security and protection rules.
Sense of solidarity and field commitment to serving vulnerable populations.
Autonomy and adaptability in mobile and variable environments.
