Context/ Project Specifics
For several weeks, the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been spreading rapidly, including to new health zones, in a context marked by security challenges and difficulties in accessing populations. This evolution complicates detection, case monitoring, and medical care activities, requiring continuous strengthening of response capacities on the ground.
In this context, MSF Switzerland is deploying and strengthening its teams to contribute to surveillance, prevention and patient care activities in the affected areas.
As part of this response, we are looking for experienced nurses with experience in humanitarian contexts and with one or more specific experiences in Ebola epidemic responses.

Responsibilities
As Head of Nursing Care, your main responsibilities are as follows:
- Supervise the nursing care of the teams to ensure good nursing practices while respecting human dignity in order to improve the quality of care and to be attentive to patients.
- To coordinate and supervise the implementation of therapeutic protocols, procedures, and standards, and to provide technical assistance as needed, in order to ensure the quality of nursing care, its confidentiality, the traceability of information, patient monitoring, and the application of therapeutic and sterilization rules by the staff in charge of care.
- Manage, train and supervise nursing staff or community healthcare providers in activities such as recruitment, defining job descriptions, skills development, staff briefing/debriefing, evaluation and monitoring of schedules.
- Participate in and ensure proper resource management:
– pharmacy management and ordering
– administrative procedures, patient files, registers, data collection
Depending on the activities and needs, your level of responsibility may be adapted and evolve according to the specifics of each project and the composition of the field team. You will not be alone in meeting these challenges. Other MSF staff members (international and local teams) will provide you with support.

Required profile
- Diploma in Nursing (minimum 3 years of study)
- Valid and up-to-date practice authorization
- A minimum of 6 months of clinical experience within the last 24 months
- A minimum of two years’ experience as a nurse in an NGO working in contexts similar to MSF
- Experience as a Nurse in an Ebola virus or other hemorrhagic fever virus epidemic response (experience in Ebola Treatment Center or equivalent)
- Experience in team management
- Proficiency in French
- Good team spirit, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility and stress resistance
- Responsible behavior contributing to the safety and integrity of everyone – preventing, reporting and refusing any abusive behavior and/or behavior contrary to MSF values
- Availability for a 6-week rotation + 3 weeks of follow-up
