Part-time consulting in Guatemala City
Project: Alliance 8.7 & Survivor Participation
1. Background
Guatemala faces persistent challenges related to human trafficking, forced labor, modern slavery, and child labor, particularly affecting women, girls, boys, Indigenous communities, and migrants. Sectors such as agriculture, domestic work, artisanal manufacturing, child begging, and informal activities present high risks of exploitation. In 2022, Guatemala was designated a Pioneer Country of Alliance 8.7 , committing to accelerate the elimination of these forms of exploitation. The initial roadmap focused solely on child labor, making it necessary to strengthen it to integrate the four pillars of Alliance 8.7 and promote inclusive mechanisms for the participation of survivors. This project seeks to support this process through technical analysis, multi-sectoral coordination, mobilization of survivor networks, capacity building, and collaborative work with key national organizations.
2. Objective of the Consultancy
Provide technical and operational support to the Free the Slaves team to implement project activities in Guatemala and ensure safe, inclusive, and structured processes for the meaningful participation of survivors.
3. Main Responsibilities
All tasks will be prioritized weekly with the supervisor to ensure efficient implementation within 20 hours per week .
3.1 Mobilization and Participation of Survivors
– Operational support in the identification, contact and follow-up with networks and organizations of survivors.
– Organization of communications, agendas, calls for proposals, and brief systematization of priorities and contributions.
3.2 Training and Workshops
– Operational coordination of calls for participation, venues, materials, logistics, and support during sessions.
– Preparation of lists, documentation, materials, and basic methodological support.
3.3 Technical and Operational Support to the Government and Key Stakeholders
– Operational coordination of workshops, including confirmations, agenda, logistics, materials and technical support during the event.
– Preparation of minutes, summaries, technical notes, and organization of subsequent documentation.
– This role does not imply technical or political representation of FTS; its function is operational and supportive.
3.4 Community Awareness
– Support for outreach activities, community workshops, virtual seminars, and awareness-raising processes.
– Database maintenance and monitoring of local stakeholders.
3.5 Management and Reporting
– Organization of project folders, files, and tools.
– Preparation of brief monthly reports focused on operational progress.
– Ongoing operational support to the technical supervisor.
4. Expected Products
– Documentation of activities (minutes, lists, summaries).
– Concise monthly reports.
– Support for the consolidated document of survivor priorities.
5. Desired profile
Education
– University degree in social sciences, social work, psychology, law, anthropology, public policy or related areas.
Experience
– Minimum 3 years in: human trafficking, forced labor, survivor protection or gender-based violence.
– Experience coordinating with relevant institutions (MINTRAB, SVET, multi-sectoral committees).
– Experience in operational organization of activities, logistics and field coordination.
Technical Knowledge
– Solid knowledge of Alliance 8.7, its pillars and operation as a Pioneer Country.
– Mastery of national and international regulatory frameworks related to trafficking, forced labor and child labor.
– Familiarity with civil society organizations.
– Trauma-sensitive approaches and meaningful participation.
Competencies
– Excellent organization, communication and coordination skills.
– Cultural sensitivity and experience with survivors and indigenous communities.
– Confidentiality, professional ethics, and commitment to PSEA and safeguarding.
6. Duration and Dedication
– December 2025 – September 2026
– 20 hours per week (part-time)
– Hybrid modality (based in Guatemala City).
7. Supervision
The consultant will work under the supervision of the Regional Manager for Latin America of Free the Slaves, who will provide technical and strategic guidance for the project.

The project supports this process through technical assistance, multisectoral coordination, survivor mobilization, capacity strengthening, and collaboration with key national organizations.
2. Objective of the Consultancy
To provide technical and operational support to Free the Slaves in the implementation of project activities in Guatemala, the review of the Alliance 8.7 roadmap, and the facilitation of safe, structured, and meaningful survivor participation.
3. Key Responsibilities

– This role does not represent FTS in technical or political decisions.
3.4 Community Engagement
– Support for awareness-raising activities, community workshops, virtual sessions, and outreach.
– Maintenance of databases and follow-up with local actors.
3.5 Project Management and Reporting
– Maintaining organized project files.
– Preparing concise monthly reports.
– Providing ongoing operational support to the supervisor.

5. Preferred profile
Education

Experience

– Experience with Guatemalan institutions such as the Ministry of Labor, SVET.
– Experience in operational coordination and logistics.
Technical Knowledge
– Solid understanding of Alliance 8.7, its pillars, commitments, and Pathfinder mechanisms.
– Knowledge of legal frameworks on trafficking, forced labor, and child labor.
– Familiarity with national organizations working on protection and survivor support.
Competencies
– Strong organizational and communication skills.
– Cultural sensitivity and survivor-centered experience.
– Ethical conduct, confidentiality, and adherence to PSEA policies.
