Mission

Geneva Call is a neutral and impartial non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting respect by Armed Groups, De Facto Authorities (AGDAs) and Provisional Governments for international humanitarian norms in armed conflict and other situations of violence, in particular those related to the protection of civilians. Geneva Call focuses its efforts on banning the use of anti-personnel mines, protecting children from the effects of armed conflict, prohibiting sexual violence in armed conflict, working towards the elimination of gender discrimination, protecting civilian infrastructure, and ensuring humanitarian access.

Why this role?

The Programme Coordinator is responsible for implementation and oversight of Geneva Call’s projects in Colombia, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy, guidelines, and operational objectives.

Work relations

The Programme Coordinator reports to the Country Director (CD) and works closely with the Head of Support. He/She supervises directly the Field Officers. The role also maintains occasional contact with external partners including UN agencies, Permanent Missions, international organisations, and service providers.

Duties and responsabilities

Programme Implementation

  • Supervise and oversee the implementation of multiple projects’ objectives in line with Geneva Call’s mission.
  • Ensure project activities are implemented effectively and achieve intended results.
  • Ensure programme quality.
  • Ensure compliance with donors’ reporting deadlines.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Coordinate with the CD to ensure that design, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of operations are coherent with programmatic guidelines and a results-based approach.
  • Regularly review project progress, identify challenges, and recommend corrective actions.

Budget and Compliance

  • Monitor project expenditure to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with Geneva Call’s internal standards, donor rules, and accountability frameworks.

External Coordination

  • Actively participate in relevant consortium coordination mechanisms and protection networks as delegated by the Country Director.
  • Represent Geneva Call at workshops, events, and forums related to engagement with armed actors and protection issues as delegated by the Country Director.

Management and Team Development

  • Develop and manage a team of project officers, fostering safe and efficient project delivery.
  • Promote staff development, performance management, and a collaborative working environment.

Requirements

Education (Essential)

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree Graduate degree in international relations or another humanitarian field.

Experience (Essential)

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in humanitarian organisations, particularly in conflict-affected settings and protection work.
  • Proven experience in project cycle management and team leadership.
  • Proven experience managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Proven experience implementing MEAL operations.
  • Proven experience working with consortiums, different donors and multilateral agencies.

Job-related Competencies

  • Strong project management and organisational development skills, with a proven record of delivering results.
  • Good understanding of MEAL methodologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure in complex environments, managing multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of International Humanitarian Law is an asset.

Languages (Essential)

  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English is required.

Additional information

  • Salary range: 10-12 million Colombian pesos.
  • The incumbent must be willing and able to occasionally travel at short notice and spend part of her time on the field.
  • Testing and interviewing will be used as a form of screening.
  • Initial appointment is subject to satisfactory professional references.
  • Additional background checks may be required.
