Supervision :

Under the direct supervision of the head of the nutrition section, the nutrition program officer will be responsible for providing support for the implementation of WFP’s nutrition response strategy in Madagascar, primarily within the framework of actions to support the resilience of vulnerable populations.

Main tasks:

He or she will mainly have to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Support the operationalization of WFP’s nutrition response strategy in Madagascar in alignment with the general nutrition policies and guidelines defined by WFP at the global level.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the nutrition component in the resilience building strategy
  • Provide support for the implementation and capitalization of the pilot project for the implementation of FARNE.
  • Provide support for the implementation and capitalization of the “school nutrition” component
  • Provide support for the implementation of agricultural value chain development initiatives in collaboration with the resilience team
  • Support the establishment of data collection and analysis systems within the framework of malnutrition prevention programs with the update of the Dashboard for visualizing and monitoring partner performance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports on programs and activities enabling informed decision-making
  • Support the process of identifying, developing and managing partnerships.
  • Support capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government actors to prepare for and respond to food and nutrition assistance needs.
  • Carry out any other related tasks within the area of ​​his/her skills.

Required qualifications:

Education: University education (Master’s level minimum) in nutrition, health, social sciences with good operational experience in Madagascar.

Professional experience : Have at least one (01) year of post-graduate experience at a professional level (manager/responsible) in the field of planning and implementation of nutrition activities, monitoring and analysis of food and nutrition security, monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian and development projects. Experience in the management of acute malnutrition management programs, promotion of infant and young child feeding, the fight against micronutrient deficiencies, value chain development will be an asset.

Languages : Very good level in French and acceptable level in English (intermediate).

Skills and abilities:

  • Experience in programming and implementing nutrition programs
  • Experience in nutrition policy definition and development processes
  • Good command of the project cycle
  • Good ability to analyze, synthesize, write study reports, evaluations and/or surveys;
  • Good knowledge of the problem of malnutrition in Madagascar;
  • Good command of IT tools and ENA, SPSS and Epi Info software;
  • Good communication/advocacy, negotiation and leadership skills;
  • Be able to evolve in a multicultural environment, demonstrate commitment and integrity.
