How can you make a difference? Key functions / Responsibilities

The Project Leader will be primarily responsible for ensuring the comprehensive implementation of the project through the technical and administrative coordination of activities carried out in the corresponding branches. This includes the appropriate selection of beneficiary communities, supervision of community activities and medical care, monitoring and tracking of indicators, ensuring proper budget execution, and gathering verification data. In addition, the Project Leader will act as a liaison between the Venezuelan Red Cross and the various partner organizations, being responsible for preparing monthly reports and contributing to the reports required by the donor partner, as well as promoting strategic alliances and strengthening local capacities through training and educational activities.

He/She will be in charge of:

  • Supervise the implementation of the project at the points of care, ensuring that the objectives and deadlines established according to the guidelines of the Venezuelan Red Cross and allies are met.
  • Coordinate the selection of beneficiary communities, ensuring compliance with the criteria established in the project.
  • Coordinate and manage the human, financial and material resources necessary for the execution of the project.
  • Coordinate and work together with the Local Coordinators and the health teams assigned to the project to ensure the effective implementation of medical care, community activities and report generation.
  • Implement monitoring and evaluation systems to measure the progress and impact of the project.
  • Ensure the coordination, scheduling and supervision of community activities in the participating branches.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project activities and ensure the quality of implementation.
  • Ensure the correct collection, transcription, and analysis of information from the activities performed.
  • Maintain active control of activity verification sources, including photographic and documentary records.
  • Prepare detailed reports on project activities, including a monthly report in accordance with established formats.
  • Oversee the financial management of the project, including budgeting, tracking expenses, and preparing financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the organization’s financial policies and procedures and manage donor relations with prior authorization from the program management.
  • Support the identification of outpatient centers that require improvements in water and sanitation systems, in coordination with the contracted WASH assistant.
  • Supervise the works and ensure their alignment with the technical standards and objectives of the project.
  • Respect and enforce the visibility and dissemination regulations established by the Venezuelan Red Cross.
  • Coordinate, together with volunteers and local teams, educational sessions on health promotion and prevention, including topics related to sexual and reproductive health.
  • Ensure project visibility through effective communication with stakeholders and the community.
  • Establish and strengthen strategic alliances with other humanitarian organizations to facilitate patient access to Venezuelan Red Cross health services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partners, local authorities and other relevant organizations.
  • Ensure that the project meets the quality standards and policies of the Venezuelan Red Cross.
  • Implement corrective measures when necessary to improve the quality of the project.
  • Coordinate with other departments of the Venezuelan Red Cross and with partners of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing between different teams and projects.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of project information, including budget data.
  • Provide support to the national health team in complementary activities such as preparing training sessions and meetings.
  • Perform other tasks related to the type of position and those assigned by your immediate superior, based on the characteristics and special conditions of the position, to provide a quality service that meets the goals and objectives of the institution, in accordance with the Strategic Development Plan of the National Society.

Report

The Project Leader will report to the Program Management.

Trips

You must be available to travel within the country.

Teams

It is highly desirable that you have sufficient equipment to perform your function remotely: laptop and/or computer, good internet connection, among others.

Workplace

Caracas (Headquarters of the Venezuelan Red Cross).

To qualify as a builder of the Venezuelan humanitarian system, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A university degree in a field relevant to the project, such as international studies, public health, industrial engineering, or business administration. A first-level university degree combined with five (5) years of work experience will be accepted as an advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the design, implementation and management of humanitarian programs and projects is required, preferably with a focus on Community Health, Primary Health Care and Disaster Risk Response.
  • Strong program management skills, including planning, activity tracking, financial management, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Technical background in one or more of the following areas: Health, Disaster Risk Response, Migration, Finance and Logistics is an advantage.
  • Experience in managing projects funded by international donors is required.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, capable of fostering and maintaining alliances.
  • Experience in working with local organizations to promote their strengthening.
  • Ability to train and guide staff and volunteers, to provide technical support and capacity building.
  • Experience in facilitating organizational development processes is desirable.
  • Experience working with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is desirable.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English is a requirement.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Capacity and agreement to adhere to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
  • Preferably work experience in emergency contexts with volunteer management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
