JOB CONTEXT:
Since January 2024, HI has been responding to Sudan’s crisis. HI’s joint multisectorial response in Gedaref State, implemented with a Sudanese partner NGO, is already providing physical and functional rehabilitation services in healthcare centers and at community level, as well as MHPSS services, including individual and group counselling. HI is further engaged at the humanitarian coordination level to mainstream disability inclusion throughout the humanitarian response.
HI is scaling up its response from both geographic and modalities/sectorial perspectives. In particular, HI has deployed emergency response teams in Darfur, to setup its operations and initiate its response in the western parts of Sudan, since December 2024. Activities are implemented in Darfur since January 2025 in Basic needs (Wash and FSL), and assessment in other sectors are being conducted.
Atlas Logistique (AL) is an operational unit of HI, which has been supporting humanitarian actors since 1993. Atlas Logistique facilitates, optimizes and accelerates the delivery of aid in emergency situations and chronic crisis contexts. Our mission is to open up humanitarian space to the most hard-to-reach populations and to optimize humanitarian supply chains. AL’s operations focus around four key sectors: shared transport and storage platforms, medical logistics, logistics capacity building and light civil access engineering, both in the preparation and response phases of emergencies. These all contribute to HI-AL’s position as a key player in humanitarian access.After a phase of initial diagnosis to understand the logistical needs of the humanitarian community in Darfur, AL is launching operations in Darfur focusing on storage, transportation and capacity building activities.
YOUR MISSION:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the “AL Project Manager Pharmacist” supports the Atlas Logistique teams on the operational planning, implementation and monitoring of HI/AL’s operational strategy. This position include the temperature controled storage and transportation components of the project as well as Capacity Building. To do so, the Atlas Logistique PM Pharmacist supports his/her team to ensure optimal quality, effectiveness and impact of the implemented project and to contribute to the sound management and effective functioning of the organization in Darfur.
Your mains responsibilities will be :
Responsibility 1: Operationalization of Medical Logistics Expertise
- Ensure compliance of medical logistics facilities to enable the temperature-controlled pharmaceutical storage and distribution of medical supplies, in accordance with Good Storage and Distribution Practices (WHO standards) and national regulations governing the storage and transport of medical products.
- Support the logistics team in the selection and procurement of equipment required for the storage of temperature-sensitive health products.
- Support the transport team to select appropriate solutions to distribute medicines in accordance with the type of health products.
- Support the capacity building project manager to develop trainings on medical logistics for partners.
Responsibility 2: Establish and Update the Quality Assurance System
- Establish a temperature and humidity monitoring system and raise alerts in case of temperature deviations that may impact the quality of health products.
- Alert the Project Manager and the Headquarters Cold Chain Specialist in case of non-compliance with required quality standards or Good Storage and Distribution Practices.
- Ensure traceability and archiving of temperature curves and records, and submit a monthly report on temperature monitoring and Good Storage and Distribution Practices for medical products to follow up on recommendations.
- Implement a quality assurance system, and supervise or conduct self-inspections, the results of which include proposals for corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop procedures for temperature-controlled storage and transportation and ensure their compliance.
- Train the Atlas Logistique team on Good Storage and Distribution Practices.
Responsibility 3: Communication and Representation
- Serve as the focal point for partners’ technical, legal, and scientific questions regarding medicines and medical devices.
- Act as the focal point for technical issues related to the cold chain and storage conditions of health products.
- Contribute to interim and final donor reports, including reporting on medical logistics data.
- Represent ATLAS/HI activities related to medical logistics, transport, and storage of medicines and medical devices within the Health and Logistics Clusters.
YOUR PROFILE:
- You have minimum three years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, including cold chain storage
- You have a Pharmacist degree; specialization in humanitarian medical logistics is desirable
- You have an excellent knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and Good Distribution and Storage Practices
- You are able to work under pressure and in a context of ongoing insecurity.
- You show patience and creativeness and are a good team player
