Job purpose
Providing the necessary psychosocial support to women and girls within communities affected by the psychological and social challenges resulting from crises, disasters, wars, and socio-economic conditions, through individual or group sessions, and contributing to creating a safe and supportive environment that takes into account the needs of women and girls affected by crises, under the supervision of the center/safe space director and the protection coordinator.
Main tasks
- Providing structured group psychosocial support programs for women and girls and facilitating sessions aimed at promoting psychosocial cohesion and building life skills.
- Receiving individual cases requiring psychological support, conducting individual psychological and social counseling sessions, following up with the protection officer, and documenting them.
- Participating in raising awareness and providing psychological education to the participants by preparing and delivering awareness sessions on relevant topics such as mental health, dealing with stress, anger management, building self-confidence, etc., in accordance with the approved plans and within the timetable specified in coordination with the direct and technical management.
- Identifying cases that require specialized psychological intervention and referring them to the appropriate authorities and specialists, in coordination with the team.
- Contributing to the development of recreational and educational activities carried out within the safe space, in a manner that suits the psychological needs of the target group.
- Supporting the program team when implementing activities that require the services of a psychologist, such as preparing for activities, implementing them, or providing consultation services when needed.
- Participating in the preparation and implementation of center activities, campaigns, team support sessions, and protection outreach.
- Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of information and the privacy of cases in accordance with the protocols adopted by the organization.
- Ensuring the application of protection principles, especially the “do no harm” principle, during the provision of services.
- Respect for the principles of humanitarian action, especially equality, non-discrimination, privacy and confidentiality
Qualifications required for the job
- She has a university degree in psychological counseling – psychology, social sciences or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience working in the field of psychological support and training within non-profit or civil society organizations, preferably within safe spaces for women and girls.
- She has received training in psychosocial support to deal with sensitive psychological cases consciously and professionally.
- Effective communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Computer skills and Microsoft Office applications
- Skills in operating the necessary equipment at work (printer and projector).
