JOB SUMMARY
The psychologist is responsible for providing specialized psychological assessments in addition to psychosocial support services for individuals affected by the explosion at Mar Elias Church, including the injured and the families of the victims, with the aim of alleviating the psychological impact of the trauma. This intervention will be carried out as part of an organized response in line with international standards for mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in emergencies, as outlined in the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) guidelines.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The psychologist has the following responsibilities and duties:
- Conduct initial psychological assessments to identify individual mental health needs and determine the necessity for referrals to specialized services.
- Design and deliver individual and group psychosocial support sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and monitor individualized intervention plans for affected individuals and families.
- Document and record beneficiary data using professional tools that ensure confidentiality and data protection.
- Contribute to the analysis of emerging psychological trends within the affected community and provide context-sensitive recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Should have the following skills, education, and experience:
- A university degree in Psychology (master’s degree in clinical psychology is preferred).
- A minimum of three years of professional experience in providing mental health services in emergencies or trauma contexts.
- Proven experience in conducting psychological assessments and delivering trauma-informed psychosocial support.
- Commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards in psychological practice.
- High documentation skills and proficiency in using computers.
- Fluency in Arabic is required; proficiency in English will be considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
